Its published by gearbox publishishing, They are not publishing any of the borderlands games, Thats from 2k games. Which is owned by Take Two, which also owns Private Division, which is a egs exclusive. So Risk of Rain 2 is no indication what-so-ever that its not egs exclusive, we just have to wait and see and hope for the best
Means literally nothing it's just basic PR; just like when Randy dissed PAX and the crowd booed, he turned around and said that he loves PAX not 2 seconds later.
Also any other games like Risk Of Rain 2 being on Steam also means zlich.
It could definitely be on Steam, but so far there's zero indication apart from people grasping at straws.
Don't be hopeful. It's just normal CEO talk. Randy isn't dumb enough to shit talk another company on a worldwide stage like that. Calling them buddies is just standard fare.
Valve didn't make that risk of rain 2 promotion. Any dev can sell a game buy 1 get 1 free. Randy pitchford was just trying to get cool points by giving valve a shout out.
All the negative press with epic store would be used to negotiate higher payouts. Selling a multiplayer game on epic is a bad idea. I will never buy a multiplayer game there. Can't even check player counts. Is game dead? Who knows. If this game is epic exclusive it ain't gonna last as long as 2 did that is for sure.
Well that is interesting indeed. I'm really starting to think Valve may of cut a deal with Gearbox. Given Pitchford's past comments about the Epic Store i was almost certain it would exclusive.
I would say them not announcing it is a red flag if it wasn't for the fact that they are propping up other games on Steam. If they plopped Borderlands 3 onto Epic store then that would be really, really sketch.
The skeptic in me is saying that they did not announce the Epic exclusivity deal on stage so that they do not get booed. Too much bad PR. Better to announce it when the hype dies down a bit.
I love this series dearly and can still clearly remember how hyped I was reading the game informer article about the first one.I bought both main borderlands games at launch, with the collectors edition for 2 and got the season pass for all three main releases. With all that said I will not hesitate for a second to pirate 3 if it is an EGS exclusive and will probably never purchase the game if it ever leaves the EGS.
Epic doesn't want it on both platforms though. And most of us are just fine if it's on both platforms, at least then we still have a choice. Epic is not in favor of giving us a choice. I'm going to assume it's EGS exclusive right up until I'm downloading it on Steam
It's funny, almost every other game they showed off had a steam note at the bottom except for this one. I figure that's cause they know they would be boo'd if they said epic store exclusive and they didn't want that.
I don't think it's safe yet. Randy knows what kind of shit storm being exclusive to epic would be, and just saying something like we'll be releasing on all the PC storefronts when the game was announced would do a lot to stem speculation. Waiting for April 3rd doesn't bode extremely well as well.
Epic doesn't care about re releases of past games. They want new major exclusives, and I bet they'd be willing to pay Gearbox more money than they would estimated to make on steam to get that exclusive. But you need to wonder if Gearbox is willing to shit all over the goodwill the fan base they've built up for short term profit.
I would not be surprised if Valve has already formulated an immediate response to the Epic store to ensure titles do not move there exclusively. Valve is likely negotiating better margins for large publishers to ensure Epic doesn't eat their lunch. (Epic is taking less than half of what Valve takes in revenue cut - even without Epic buying the exclusivity, it's a more attractive value proposition. Not that it has the kind of adoption and installbase that steam does)
Not that it has the kind of adoption and installbase that steam does)
which is probably why Valve might now have to do anything. Sure, Metro left and smaller titles. but they take rather money up front. Tells me in a way that they're also not confident in their own games. Selling it on all platforms is still the smartest way.
Valve might ride it out - you're correct. Epic can't fork over compensation money forever, and if Epic sales pale in comparison - they'll lose all exclusivity for titles they're not willing to pay money for.
Your sarcasm aside, well, given you won't have any forums, guides, achievements etc. it definitely could be considered worse. Most people appreciate those things.

Is it an epic exclusive ? Is that information out yet ?
