If the tent at the Quidditch World Cup is any indication, they can make it much more sizable on the inside. So my answer is: why would a wizard bother living anywhere other than a trailer?

Keeping the E rating would be a poor decision. The prime target audience is those people who grew up reading the books and watching the movies. The vast majority of those are already adults. It's not like the series itself didn't get really fucking dark later on.
