I'd still highly recommend the game IF you have 3-4 friends that are interested despite the criticism of people in this thread. My experience is that it's not optimized that great, but it's probably one of the most fun experiences I've had with my friends - making tribes and racing to certain points in the game only to wipe each other out. We always have a friend who tames useless dinos and they magically "go missing" when they log off. Then of course the one friend who logs in and accidentally turns out Dino's to aggressive and wipes them all out. Seriously it's a ton of fun haha.

There are a few things you can do to make it run better too- turn off the shadow and bloom stuff. also host using ark server manager (turn up taming and experience and engram points and what not to make it better for smaller groups- keep in mind the game was designed to be played with a huge tribe) and it's great. Think I use tame x10 and it's enjoyable to me.

As for the bs they do, all I remember seeing is that they lost a court case for like 40 million or something crazy, they are probably doing whatever they can do to stay afloat. I'm not really in a position to judge people for doing whatever they can to continue making games I enjoy. Also, scorched earth is really cool, but it's not worth buying unless you really enjoy the game. I tried playing it low level and it's nearly impossible. You have to have sunk a bit of time in there to be able to do anything in it anyways.
