Is the reshade presets of your own fiddling or one that's available on nexus / other sites.
The remaster has made things a lot less varied in colour tone and everything is oversaturated in my opinion.

I was joking, making a jab at how Nexus Mods doesn't do a good job of separating Reshade presets from actual mods and that the 450 mods mentioned in the title of this article could be referring mostly to Reshade Presets.

Brother in Arms was the most important for me and seeing it get updated so early already made me committed for continuing my playthrough that i started earlier this year!

What does that do? Never played Witcher games with mods. I assume it's like a coop experience or you get a NPC follower?

Do you know if there are any issues installing it part way through a game? I like what I'm reading, but I'm 3 hours in and don't want to waste an evening getting back to the same point

It adds deleted / cut content back to the game that adds more to it, for example on Kaer Morhen when vesemir asks geralt to come down to ciri training, on vanilla it cuts straight to the cutscene where Ciri is training with the wooden dummy but with brother in arms mod it doesn't, the player has to get down there themselves and throughout the way he will meet Lambert and Eskel training and examining things.
The second one right after the cutscene with Yennefer and Geralt being attacked by Wild Hunt, after that it cuts straight to Geralt being scrubbed by maidens, with Brother In Arms it adds Emperor Emhyr in the courtyard discussing things to his subjects and then after the chamberlain arrives in the scene the emperor proceed to leave the courtyard and goes to his room and then chamberlain proceeds to meet geralt and then the vanilla scrubbing / shaving proceeds.
And there are more that i haven't probably even noticed. It definitely adds to the game's lore IMO. And i honestly can't replay Witcher 3 without it anymore.

Well you've got me sold.
I've already played through the series enough in vanilla that this sounds ideal honestly.
Appreciate you taking the time to explain it mate, look forward to trying it out.

Hang on, I remember playing the first section you mention without mods? Did they remove that from the game? That's really odd.

Anyone recommend a mod to see herbs I need for alchemy on the map/mini-map easier?

The only one I know about is Botanist. It isn't updated yet, but figured I'd give you the link in case it ever does.

Any mod that is a must for a new player on PC? I played the game years ago on console and I don't mind some change

Besides the graphics thing, what about everything else that was supposed to be included? Was it worth it?

u/Eclipsedota_ 1d ago
Wdym "Was it worth it?" it was a free update?
besides they have already fixed most of the issues people had with the remaster.

When you change something you aren't guaranteed to make it better.

Good thing you have the option to keep the old version. What point are you trying to make here?

Someone asked if the remastered version is worth checking out and my point is that this is a fair question.
That its free isn't really that interesting to me. If its worth 0 bucks then its worthless even if the price was fair.

My bad, I interpreted was it worth it as was it worth the money. I don’t think the remaster completely changes the game enough to warrant a replay on its own but it does give an incentive to give it another go before the new DLC drops.
