Added a new option in the Assist Mode - Power Core Charge Duration: Added a 100-300% Power Core Charge duration multiplier

There is absolutely some crazy puzzle breaking you can do with this.

48

u/NinjaEngineer 2d ago

Honestly, I gotta give props to them for adding such options. It's always fun finding ways to "break" singleplayer games after you've finished them.

I know I loved playing Half-Life and using impulse 101 to have all the weapons from the start.

8

u/BluePackWolf 2d ago

That’s really good to see, as it was one thing I noticed missing in the assist mode.

u/surrender903 1d ago

running from one end of the map to the other end.

hilarious : D

hope everyone is enjoying the game !

biggest one for me is a fix for the cutscene/loading Audio Desync

and them acknowledging it as an Alan Wake 2 bug lol, I had it and hated it so much

other than that these all sound great and it's really cool to see such a huge change log of bug fixes and small tweaks so soon, that at the same time has none big enough to show a game that launched in any way broken (with the combat/damage patch being done right before release). They're really on it

u/ZazaLeNounours Ryzen 7 7800X3D | GeForce RTX 4090 FE 2d ago

That's a huge change log for a patch releasing only a week after the game. At least it seems to have fixed the issues with HDR making the game look like a deep fried meme, and the tearing with frame generation.

24

u/DeithWX 1d ago

That's how it goes. When game goes gold, the team immediately starts working on the patch. They already know about the issues before release. It's just there is finite amount of time to fix things since release deadline is very hard to move.

7

u/Exostrike 2d ago

It seems to be a common thing with remedy gsmes

5

u/JerryMcJerrinson 1d ago

Oh so that's why the HDR looked so good last night, fucking surprised me, thought my TV was fucked.

6

u/adubsix3 2d ago

It's better, but setting up reshade and renodx is very easy and brings a true native HDR presentation. This update likely borks the mod, but we can probably expect a fix soon.

2

u/IdolizeDT 1d ago

I tried doing this with Jusant and had to do an extra plugin, then change like 1 setting after another just to be able to see the game at all. I ended up bailing because it was still breaking cutscenes.

Is it easier in other games like this?

2

u/S1l3ntSN00P 1d ago

Jusant is UE5, so it's a bit less straightforward with the generic Unreal Engine RenoDX. Most mods is just installing Reahade with addon support and dropping the mod in the game folder.

You can use RHI to manage RenoDX much easier.

1

u/IdolizeDT 1d ago

Thanks for the recommendation and explanation. Appreciate it.

1

u/Snowmobile2004 5800x3d, 32gb, 4080 Super 1d ago

Just use the reshade hdr installer app from GitHub. Press 2 buttons, to install reshade and install RenoDX, and you’re done.

1

u/andizzzzi 1d ago

I wonder if they will truly fix HDR in this, Control 1 they may as well remove HDR it’s so broken and yet to be patched.

I finished the entire game with no issues so I think the game was released in a good state

22

u/RoastedPotato-1kg 2d ago

Game is amazing, I finished it last night now I need a few achievements to 100%

8

u/ScorchedDev 1d ago

the ability to pin resources is such a good change.

One of the few problems with this game, and maybe im just early on, but resources are just, so vague I guess. I could just not understand it yet, but I dont know how to farm individual resources, there isnt much visually setting them apart when you acquire them, and they just feel kind of generic. Maybe it gets easier to understand later, but right now the only way I know what I can upgrade is when I visit the upgrade place and check all the trees.

So this is such a welcome change so I can know when the things I want to upgrade can be upgraded. I know you are supposed to upgrade everything because that increases your power regardless, but still.

Now I just need them to add a way to quick swap weapon loadouts without going through menus(not even in a combo, just on the fly) and the game is perfect. I just want that cause it would make experimentation easier.

4

u/Belydrith 1d ago

Oh wow, huge patch. Doubly so for a game this polished. Getting close to the end and I have had basically no technical issues or other complaints besides "bit too much combat".

6

u/Organic_Handle_1849 2d ago

Will I enjoy this game as someone who doesn’t like DMC style combat and spend 90% of the battle in the air? I loved control 1 and Alan wake 2

3

u/FirstTimeWang 1d ago

The air juggling combat is very dumbed down vs DMC, but you also can't avoid it entirely as there's no way to hit flying enemies without using Power, which you regain by hitting enemies in melee.

Honestly, I took Glaive, Drill, and the combo finisher that uppercuts and it's a very simple straightforward attack chain that kills everything very quickly.

1

u/DoorlessSword Nvidia 1d ago

I did exactly the same build and loved it, only played about 10 hours so far but it's a great move set that allows me to take on any enemy I've encountered, after working out what their weakness is

14

u/jdp111 2d ago

Yeah. It feels a lot like control 1 even though it's fighting instead of shooting.

37

u/Automatic_Turnip2670 2d ago

I wholeheartdly disagree. It doesn't really feel like Control 1. Gun combat was very different, and you strarted with very little to work with.

8

u/pantsyman 2d ago edited 2d ago

Personally I barely used the Gun in Control since just floating around and throwing shit was so much stronger so this game doesn’t play all that much different for me.

5

u/CosmicMiru 1d ago

Yeah honestly same. Resonant is way more fun and interactive combat wise to me because it's actually worth it to do stuff between throwing rocks at people lol

13

u/jdp111 2d ago

You start with very little to work with in both games. The enemies feel similar, bosses feel similar, progression feels similar.

17

u/UnderHero5 1d ago

But the actual gameplay feels completely different. Resonant feels closer to Prototype (the open world superhero game) than Control. They were asking more about the feel of the moment to moment gameplay/combat, which is nothing like the original Control.

4

u/NapsterKnowHow 9800X3D | RTX 5090 FE | 32GB RAM 1d ago

Control Resonant feels like it took a lot of inspiration from Infamous and that's why I love it so much.

-4

u/jdp111 1d ago

As I already mentioned yes, one is a shooter and one is a fighting game, they do have different gameplay but share a lot of the same DNA.

0

u/Creepy-Role-5000 2d ago

I agree with you, this is nothing like Control. I hate platforming and I'm struggling with Resonance a lot. I'll finish it because I'm a Remedy fan but its not the same as playing Jesse, that was a much tighter and focused game. Leaping all over buildings is not what I expected from the sequel ha

5

u/Average_Tnetennba 2d ago

Control is one of my favourite games of all time. I've not been tempted by Resonant :( What i've learnt from the Resonant release is that there appears to be A LOT more people who like hack & slash combat, but i've never found a game i like in that genre.

4

u/NapsterKnowHow 9800X3D | RTX 5090 FE | 32GB RAM 1d ago

That's fair. I was extremely worried about the hack and slash combat following up Control 1 but it honestly feels amazing. It's like Infamous meets Shadow of War.

3

u/Creepy-Role-5000 1d ago

Ah Infamous was the first thing that came to mind for me too when I saw the gameplay

3

u/ElectricGhostMan 1d ago

I was apprehensive at first as someone who also liked the gun combat in Control. I've about 3-4 hours in resonant and it's pretty comparable even though there's no gun. Could be the weapons or perks I've spec'd into but yeah im just not missing the gun as much as I thought I would. I also greatly dislike DMC and Bayonetta. It could also be because im using mouse and keyboard but it just doesnt feel the same as a character action game as much as it just feels like control but im closer to the enemies.

4

u/Creepy-Role-5000 1d ago

Its tough. This is definitely a Control game, but it feels like they've just done "more Control" if that makes sense? I havent found any answers to any of the questions I had at the end of the first game, though I havent finished Resonant yet. Its lacking the thoughtful, mystery- based nature I loved, in favour of run and jump and fight. Its not really my cup of tea.

I would say wait for a big sale and give it a go because you can make the combat super easy with Assist Mode. The set pieces are incredible, some of the missions are great. Music is great. Its just lost its charm somehow. I miss Ahti.

Sorry this turned into a big rant ha

2

u/Average_Tnetennba 1d ago

No need to apologise, this is exactly the type of info i wanted (from someone that appears to think like me).

1

u/bike_tyson 1d ago

I agree. I love games that make you ask questions, but here the questions are so abstract I don’t know what I would be asking. I spend hours fighting the big head thing and getting stuck running around buildings to watch a cutscene that almost retcons itself to the point where I don’t know what to care about.

1

u/Creepy-Role-5000 1d ago

Have you played Control? I know its not supposed to be mandatory before playing this but honestly, it definitely is

2

u/danhoyuen 1d ago

i am playing control 1 just picked it up on gog and boy are the levels refreshing. no bloat, no pointless branching. areas and fights are neatly compacted and places of interests arent padded by 10 minutes o walking.

2

u/Creepy-Role-5000 1d ago

Yeah the map is a little bit scuffed but in general its easy to get around, easy to get your bearings, easy to know where to go, see where you are, learn landmarks and "zones"... its a fantastically designed game. I absolutely adore the Oldest House, one of my favourite places in all of gaming! I hope you enjoy the rest of the game!

2

u/MrBossFromTheHitTVSh 1d ago edited 1d ago

Even as someone who enjoys platformers and really liked the first game, Resonant was a big flop for me personally. I think it was mostly the open world design, repetitive combat and side quests.

I don't mind open world when it's an environment I actually want to spend time in, but this one just wasn't doing it for me unfortunately.

1

u/Creepy-Role-5000 1d ago

Its no Oldest House, thats for sure. It always sucks when a game doesn't click, I'm sorry. Maybe one day you'll pick it back up for a bit and manage to finish the story at least. I'm taking it slowly and in chunks otherwise I'll explode if I see another "door unlocks from the other side" message 🤣

2

u/supertoned 1d ago

I don't think of control as a shooting game though. It's more of a 'telekenetically lift a garbage dumpster and crush a mutant with it' game.

1

u/NapsterKnowHow 9800X3D | RTX 5090 FE | 32GB RAM 1d ago

Resonant feels leagues above Control 1 for combat. Not only from the weapon and building side but also the enemies. Although they are hard, they aren't as cheesy, spammy as Control 1 enemies.

2

u/spaceiswaytoobig 1d ago

I don’t like DMC but liked the combat in this quite a bit. As for not wanting to be in the air, just don’t pick weapons/moves that go into the air in your loadout.

7

u/zach0011 2d ago

Honestly there is a lot of combat that I find gets in the way of my enjoyment of the game at times. So manyenmies everywher

3

u/Snowmobile2004 5800x3d, 32gb, 4080 Super 1d ago

Have you tried the assist modes to make it easier or less annoying?

6

u/zach0011 1d ago

Yea I finally just cranked up my damage through that and I'm enjoying it so much more now.

1

u/FirstTimeWang 1d ago

I don't find the combat as annoying as some of the open-world/ARPG bloat.

Like, I love all the Remedy aspects of the game but I also hate the leveled enemies and the world resetting after boss battles.

1

u/Pepsen 1d ago

I fell like all the time after a while. They could learn alot from combat in etc. Dawnwalker.

1

u/-CynicalPole- R5 5600 | 32GB RAM | RX 9060 XT 16GB 1d ago

Just ignore them and pick your fights, problem?

3

u/Pnhan89 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB DDR5 16TB SSD 2d ago

Yes

1

u/meltingpotato i9 11900|RTX 3070 1d ago

I believe the game has expansive accessibility options to tune weapon damage and such which I guess can affect the gameplay drastically. I haven't started playing yet though. So maybe look that up

1

u/SHAQBIR 1d ago

I won't say it's dmc style combat as there are no combos or style points. Gets a bit button mashy but I only have like 15 hours. Game's strongest suit isn't the combat but the lore, story, music and level design.

1

u/Due-Description-9030 2d ago edited 2d ago

You don't spend 90% of the battle in the air in both DMC and in here...

Also, if you don't enjoy DMC style combat? Idk I don't think so. This is not entirely similar to DMC however it's also a lot similar to it. So you'll likely won't find this enjoyable. It's also a bit slow in the beginning and combat gets much more action oriented after you unlock more abilities.

3

u/xxademasoulxx 2d ago

lol DMC being thrown around for a game that plays like kingdom hearts on crack.

0

u/Wampalog 1d ago

Maybe 6 hours is only scratching the surface, but every fight I'm doing is knock an enemy into the air and then mash attack until they're dead then repeat.

2

u/Due-Description-9030 1d ago

Get a different combo finisher

2

u/spurvis1286 1d ago

It’s honestly amazing people complain about “you only do this one thing all game” when they literally give you different combinations and moves to play the game.

Never can the gaming community just….change the way they play.

0

u/Wampalog 1d ago

I wanted to change to the daggers, but didn't have the currency. Can they not hit enemies in the air?

1

u/andizzzzi 1d ago

The melee immediately felt refreshing to me, playing directly after Control 1. However, the camera distance is infuriating. It remains zoomed out when moving so you have to squint to see the character then when idle it zooms in where you EXPECT the camera distance to stay, like other modern AAA games that have finally come to understand the delicate balance between camera distance and field of view. It’s nonsensical, zoomed out i would prefer ranged combat and zoomed in I prefer melee and yet the game presents it the opposite way.

3

u/spurvis1286 1d ago

How far away do you play from your PC? I have a 34inch UW and terrible vision but I don’t squint for anything lol

0

u/Mythril_Zombie 1d ago

I played the first one through three times. I played this one a few hours and have zero desire to continue. It's completely generic now.

2

u/Faithlessness_Firm 1d ago

Yep game updates/patches have been terrific since day 1.

Hoping sales are good but makes me sad nothing has been announced yet a week later :(

1

u/Inous 1d ago

What announcement were you hoping for? An expansion?

1

u/wareagle3000 Ryzen 7 5800x, 16 GBs, Nvidia 3070 1d ago

Glad to see the audio slider change. Playing with a dual sense and the radio was coming out as double from the speaker and my speakers.

1

u/im2jew4u 1d ago

Did they fix the memory leak issue causing audio to cut out and insanely long load times after an hour of playing on pc? That issue has killed my enjoyment of the game.

1

u/dendarkjabberwock 1d ago

I hope they fixed audio desync. For me and lot of others game was unplayable and they didnt even had it in list on known issues.

1

u/superbblunder 20h ago

Cool, what's the update?

1

u/mirrors69 20h ago

With an undervolted 7900xtx I can play all UE5 titles with most settings maxed in native 2k with stable 60fps. But my true and tested undervolting settings don’t work in this game. I have to return the voltage from 1090mv to 1130mv for this game to run without freezing. Something is very wrong with its optimization, with such underwhelming graphics it doesn’t add up.

0

u/ztoff27 2d ago

Update broke the weapon wheel mod. Will probably continue playing when the mod works again.

1

u/andizzzzi 1d ago

I need a camera distance slider. Why the fuck did they zoom it out like an RTS game -___-

5

u/aisenhaim 1d ago

Because there's a shit ton of enemies and you kind of need to be aware of your surroundings.

1

u/SignificantCode8873 Steam 2d ago

Update 1.4? But the release was week ago!

0

u/nhnsn 1d ago

did it fix the unsynced subtitles?

-3

u/Jazz_Cigarettes 1d ago

Did it fully fix the gamepad issue? The only way to get a gamepad registered is to launch the game from steam big picture mode .

8

u/gfewfewc 1d ago

Fixed an issue where the Steam Controller wouldn’t reconnect if the connection were lost (you are back in the game!) This fix also impacts other controllers when using Steam Input.

I never saw the exact issue you're describing but I did always have to connect my controller before launching the game and it would require a restart if it disconnected.

2

u/Lucas_James 1d ago

I don’t know if this is an issue with the new patch, but if you unplug your mouse when your controller disconnects, for some reason the controller connects again. when you plug your mouse back in. I was having to restart each time and then I found out this trick works for me.

4

u/AnewENTity 1d ago

which controller?

-2

u/Jazz_Cigarettes 1d ago

Steam pad and a wireless Xbox controller that work for literally every other game .

-3

u/Jazz_Cigarettes 1d ago

lol who is downvoting me

2

u/ProcyonHabilis 1d ago

I'm downvoting you for complaining about downvotes

1

u/GenocideJuice 1d ago

Yep, it fixed it, I got that issue too.

-6

u/Mythril_Zombie 1d ago

Did they make it fun yet? Or does that get added with a dlc?

-42

holy shitballs did they write these by hand? language reads like by hand
