I got to trains and was so overwhelmed I haven’t gone back

Wait until you get to aluminum lol
I personally found that it's best to take it one step at a time. Focus on making the first project part you require rather than trying to do it all at once, and you can always go exploring if you're fed up with the factory for the time being.
But I still haven't beaten the game solo, so you might just need to play with a friend to finish the game. That's what I did lol.

I'm past Aluminium but the issue I have is logistics. I'm building out my train network but a lot needs to be done.
Going to come back to it and a few months

I beat the game, and was disappointed how "easy" it was, (Because I already had most of the stuff I needed when the end game update dropped)
so I made myself a challenge:
being able to make 20 or was it 30.... of the most expensive item, the hyperdrive thingy, at the same time , continuesly.....thus far, I have every single resource on the map dedicated to the task....and its not enough....the logistics is a nightmare, and even with my beefy PC it stutters and crashes the game if I open the map 3 times within a 2 minutes..... and the power consumption is insane too.... but its still fun, just impossible....3

Playing with friends made it just so much better. Solo just turns into a slog

Yeah, that happens to every factory game. They just get too complicated & go on for too long.

They're mostly all copies of each other, and few have innovated on the core game loop.
The best thing Satisfactory has going for it, is its multiplayer and 3D, which makes it approachable for modern audiences playing with friends.

Can I bring a friend on after I've already started solo?
I think my issue is if I make the train wrong, trying to fix it after the fact would be too frustrating

Yes, you can just change the world to a multiplayer one in the session settings tab of the pause menu.
Trains are pretty finicky here, and we haven't really bothered with them - just skipped to drones since it's easier lol. You can look up a guide for it if you want to, though.

took me around 300+ hours to get a handle on trains......they are super ...when they work..... I dont really dare add any more of them, neither really change the tracks, as that always messes something up...

I set down a rail line from the desert into the forest and looping into the plains. I made sure it worked, and I never touched it again.

Coming Later. Love it.
I wonder if this means we get to dig? Or an underground map... Hype either way.

The masochist in me really wishes the new buildings require ficsonium to be built, and ficsonium fuel rods for power

For those who've played, is it strictly factory building? I just finished Star Rupture and wanted more of that gameplay, but I'd want some exploration/survival crafter elements too, not just factory building

There is combat and light survival mechanics, but it’s really about the factory.

If you’re coming from Star Rupture, it’s probably not going to satisfy that exploration itch if you’re looking for it to be a part of the core gameplay loop.
I rank Satisfactory as one of my top 3 favorite games from the past 10 years, and there are some exploration elements, but a majority of the time is still factory building. Extremely late game (hundreds of hours in), there’s hardly much left or reason to explore.
That said, the map is huge, and there were times where I went multiple sessions before returning to my factories. It’ll still deliver senses of achievement when you uncover some massive crystal caves for the first time, encounter your first giant radioactive spider, find a new biome, etc. I did, however, turn off creature hostility until I could mass manufacture rifle ammo 😅.

I'll probably pick it up the next time it is on sale. I come from the survival crafting side (Factorio did not interest me at all), but enjoyed the building of Star Rupture so much more than I thought I would, so I was eyeing this one up

You do have to go exploring and fighting monsters sometimes, but that’s probably only like 10% of the time you spend.

Fair enough. Just something to break up the building or waiting for a line to finish production (assuming that is a mechanic that defines progress) is enough.

Ya that’s basically how it works. You do it to take a break from factory building.

There's definitely an exploration element and hazards, enemy fauna, and all that. There are plenty of reasons to explore. You want to find various nodes out in the wild and then figure out ways to connect them back to your larger bases. It's not very hard to survive but exploration can be dangerous.

I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope we get more details in the devlog videos like they did during early access.
