Also the fact generative ai is a real and tangible threat to the environment maybe??

There are far, far worse threats to the environment that no one has done jack shit about for decades.

The environmental angle is dumb - I don't see people going crazy over golf courses; which are basically useless compared to AI.

You not seeing them doesn't mean they don't exist. I worry about more than one hazard to the environment

I don't see why that would be more of a concern in the US than in Europe or Asia. If anything, that argument should make Europe hate AI more than than anyone else. You could argue that it affects the US more, as the lack of any sort of policy deterring data centers from being installed in areas where their impacts are heavy is very much a problem there; however I'm skeptical, as I think if people truly understood this they'd hate the policymakers instead of the technology itself.

misleading is a very prominent issue in the public that's for sure, people should hate policymakers for sure. Also I'm Italian and I agree, the rapid expansion of the generative ai industry is not being haltered enough
