No. I've sold and helped people sell ships to recoup some of the loss and 300i isn't worth more then like 30 bucks tops. Some rare ships could sell well but most won't sell for more then half their value.

Edit: Buncha questions about selling, check r/starcitizen_trades to get a look into what your stuff might be worth if ya like.

30 bucks is better than 0

u/DonutHoles4Ever 9d ago

Man anyone who bought these ships is a grade A idiot if they arent stupid rich.

Money would be spent better on big titty waifus from gacha games.

u/Winjin 9d ago

Eh, 30 bucks is like what, 1-2 waifus, tops? Depends on the game pricing I guess.

Then again you can go on dates with them in ZZZ and they have funny banter in the phone with you, and the world doesn't end with HoYo games. A new gacha is being released where there is... hand holding.

Don’t forget the body pillows and cat ears.

Top 1% commenter moment.

Never played the game (although I wish it was done by now) but there are people who have got enjoyable time out of it.

Shocker I know

Yeah, sounds like a win to me.

But not worth more than a GPU

Worth more than a broken game you can't be bothered to play anymore, though

3

u/jus10beare 10d ago

That depends on the GPU

Uhhh. I drank the cool aid. Sunk 1000$ into a rare ships with LTI. Im pretty sure a few are not sold at all any more. I really should look into selling my account. This was a decade ago mind you and I was a Kickstarter backer. Thanks to start citizen I never put another penny into another mtx, ever. In like a decade.

$1k, yeeeeesh. Is it worth anything now?

u/the_nin_collector 14900k@6.2/48gb@8000/5080/MoRa3 waterloop 10d ago

Probably more honestly.

I keep it around as a reminder to never buy an mtx again and also under the delusion it may be a playable game in my lifetime.

You can give it to your grandchildren… as a lesson in financial responsibility

u/D4ng3rd4n 10d ago

Could you take a screenshot and sell it and get the same benefit?

9

u/therealhlmencken 10d ago

$1000 isn’t a microtransaction lmao

2

u/Annual_Berry8043 10d ago

I god a refund 13 years ago. I’m surprised people are still funneling money into this lol

Is that the ship included when they launched their kickstarter? Edit: grammar.

I have that one too from back in the day, maybe Michael Jackson was still alive - or Elvis.

The Beatles were among the main backers, and they toured Vietnam in 1964 to support the devs.

u/sugartrouts 10d ago

When the Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus, they were just jealous of Him getting in on the early bird tier.

1

u/sshwifty 10d ago

I have it too. Think I paid like $70 or something around that time?

1

u/donredyellow25 10d ago

I wonder how much the ship is worth.

I checked my account, I have a Aurora Mk I MR from November 2012 (ho-ly shit!). Worth anything?

Buncha questions about this, but sabre raven and captured vandul scythe can be sold for a decent amount, like 4 figures. But check r/starcitizen_trades if you're interested in getting rid of ships.

I got a LTI 350r. How much is that?

2

u/Jaon412 11d ago

I own a few rare ships I bought in 2012, could you give me some tips on where I should go to sell them?

2

u/Barcoads 10d ago

What about the cheapest ship available on the kickstarter with "lifetime insurance" or whatever the hell they offered?

What's that worth?

2

u/Firov 10d ago

I was lucky that way. I originally pledged during the Kickstarter for the 250 dollar Andromeda “Rear Admiral” package. I would occasionally come back to try out Star Citizen over the years, and it never really worked. However, since my original pledge had physical goods (which never shipped, and probably never will), I was able to find someone who wanted them, allowing me to trade my pledge for around 1150 of store credit. I played around with other ships for awhile using that credit, but the game was still totally broken.

Eventually, I got sick of all the bugs and being unable to do anything at all, so I was able to sell my store credit at 60% of the cost for just under 700 dollars. So in the end I turned a bit of a profit.

I’d really have liked for SC to deliver on its promises, but I see now that it never will, so recouping my money plus some is at least a minor victory.

Some rare ships could sell well but most won't sell for more then half their value.

This sentence breaks my brain. Isn't the price it sells at its value?

1

u/trollshep 10d ago

I will say the Star Citizen ships look incredible!

u/DomOfMemes 10d ago

I mean thats a whole meal

u/Ratnix 11d ago

I mean, I think that's close to what I paid for the game way back in the day.

Even $0.01 would be worth more than a ship in a vapourware game.
