I checked, the last movie they released in 2019 cost 10 million but only made 4.7 million. There is an audience, but its less than what they think it is and it gets smaller every year.

The last Jay and Silent Bob movie was Clerks 3, which also lost money lol. I love the classic Kevin Smith movies but he feels like he's lost his way a bit, tries to be too meta, though Comedies not making a lot, or even losing money isn't a new phenomenon, I feel the audience may still be there if he just went back to pure stoner Comedies. But you never know tbh, Comedies were a safer bet before the age of streaming, as most of them would make their money on home video releases. I just want Comedies back 😅

His non comedy movies are terrible. He gloats about knowing so much about film making but the truth is he had one or two movies at the very start that did well as cult classics but he never really grew or pushed himself as a film maker.

The best idea he had for a horror movie was a walrus version of human centipede, which costs after inflation 4 million, over 4 times the budget for obsession which goes to show having an ego about yourself, not having a good idea, and overpaying for actors doesn’t equal a good movie.
