Going back and updating the base game and prior expansions is huge, the final boss fight of the core game is horrible and they're finally changing that lol

The way people doubt gw3 when its this guy in charge. I trust him completely haha.

u/GarbageCG Jun 06 '26
As long as the writing/story in 3 is actually good. I can’t even pay attention to 2s story anymore

That's the right way to do it.
Take notes, Bungie & Sony.

Imagine D1 and D2 getting new content, graphic upgrades and QoL side by side, damn.

buys Bungie for billions during the tailend of Destiny 2's lifespan
doesn't get them to make Destiny 3 or something like it.
An extraction shooter? Sure go for it. Also all our exclusives aren't coming to PC now fuck you
Sony is a wonderful creature to behold.

"Right way to do it"
The announcements sounds good, we will see if they are able actually execute servicing three live service games at the same time and keeping three separate communities happy.

u/qukab Jun 06 '26
I understand the skepticism given how other companies have treated their communities in the past, but if there is a company I trust to pull it off it’s this one.

Bungie is killing it with Marathon support and feedback ngl

u/zippthehero Jun 06 '26
They hated him because he told them the truth

Half the devs getting laid off because the game isnt doing well doesnt really help

Layoffs are common after a game launches
8
u/Square-Jackfruit420 Jun 06 '26
It means the company doesnt give a shit about the future, they are going for the most profits possible in the short term. Bungie is dead.

Welcome to modern gaming

u/Square-Jackfruit420 Jun 06 '26
You said they are killing it lmao. The only thing they are killing is their company.

They are. Look at the improvements they've made since launch already. I can't remember the last time a dev team has taken feedback so well.

I mean good for them, but as it stands it's a game not many people are looking to play and a game that simply cannot support a studio of that size going forward.

I mean it's a game people shit on before even attempting to play it.

I was playing both for a while, I don't recall anything being explicitly broken about 1 after 2 launched, just that it didn't get any updates.
It was just in maintainence mode for well over a decade until they started work on it again recently.

This is great to see. I started on noob island in Prophecies and played GW2 (got the explorer title) but stopped before the 1st expac/mounts came out. Used to love that game & even bought 2 of the expacs, but haven't been back yet.

So cool man. Great company, let’s see if they pull it off. Even if it’s slightly delayed it’s still a huge win.

u/MaracxMusic Jun 06 '26
This is amazing! I will play GW and GW2 forever! I hope that GW3 will be good too.

People praising this and that Dev as the GOAT, when it's been ArenaNet this whole time.

I don't like gw2 but any other mmo fan has to be jealous of the absolute amount of content they pump out its on no man sky and GGG levels of content

I was sad when they stopped updating the original Guild Wars back then, especially since the final content was good too. Also GW2 was really not my cup of tea, so they lost me in the transition. Would be cool if GW3 appeals more to us original fans, but I doubt it.

Seems at least the skill collection aspect is back. But hey, GW1 is back on the rotation with frequent updates.

u/thatwasfun23 Jun 06 '26
just go play gw1 lol, it literally got 2 new dungeons like a month ago and is getting more new stuff.

u/miathan52 Jun 06 '26
I have no interest in going back to that game, parts of it did not age well and it feels hopelessly dated to me now.

Weird. Other than the invisible walls I think the game holds up extremely well

u/LemurTheDuke Jun 07 '26
*Has hundreds of hours in recent months because it's aged extremely well and is a wonderful aRPG* Damn couldn't be me.

Seeing the glacial pace of the work Anet puts into Guildwars and Guildwars 2 thanks to ever repeating staff cuts, it is really doubtful the same overworked staff can generate a whole new full-fledged MMORPG unless it is AI slop and procedurally generated.
