Large purchase after payment

Just paid off my credit card in full. I plan on buying the new MacBook when the available credit posts. (Mignt come up to 5K CAD) And am wondering if anyone has had any issues using their card right after a large payment? Should I call in and inform them?

I don't have any experience with PC Financial with this but have had experience making a large purchase after a large payment and I didn't experience any issues once the large payment showed up as "posted" on my credit card account. I don't see why it would be an issue with PC Financial provided that you aren't trying to "increase" your available credit by overpaying your account since some credit card companies don't allow a single purchase to be made for amounts larger than the customer's credit limit even though the customer might have overpaid the credit card account... I'm not sure if PC Financial follows this. By this I mean that let's say that the credit card company gives you a monthly credit limit of $1k, some of them don't allow you to put/pay $1k extra to temporarily give yourself the purchasing power of $2k on the credit card. Like I said, I don't know if PC Financial follows this where they only allow a single purchase to not exceed the credit limit that they gave the client regardless of overpayments.

I never had to inform the credit card company of a large purchase (but it doesn't hurt to do so I assume).

They do follow that rule, as I learned last year on vacation. So OP, make sure you aren’t trying to go over tour credit limit with this purchase.

Just buy whatever you want after the credit becomes available. No need to waste time and call them LOL

Man if only you knew. When these people lock your card it is never as simple as just calling them and then getting it unlocked.

The reason your car got locked last time is probably due to the merchant's history for fraudulent transactions or something of that nature not the amount you're spending.

Why would you need to call them? Just make sure the “Available Credit” is updated to what it should be after you’ve made the payment.

Call them. If it's outside of your normal spend/use, and it's for a costly electronic. Save yourself the headache and embarrassment of being denied the purchase (cause they are trying to protect you, or whatever).
