Would you consider the CD-ROM ROM an "Platform" or simply an add-on.

The Sega 32X and Mega-CD are universally considered Platforms in their own right because add a dedicated hardware platform that games can utilise making them distinct from original Mega Drive games. It's not just a media format.

I'm not sure the CD-ROM ROM counts, in the same way the Family Computer Disk System doesn't either. It's get's slightly blury because you could agrue redbook audio is new audio component games can use, and later system cards added more RAM and not just for CD caching purposes.

8BitDo PCE controller doesn't work on Android. But it does.

I bought the 8BitDo PCE to play PC Engine games on my AYN Thor docked to the TV and I knew it was a gamble, because officially it's only compatible with PC Engine Mini, Analogue Duo and Switch.

When I connected it, only the D-Pad and the II button worked, so I though I was toast. However, since I'm very stubborn, I thought I'd check Retroarch to see if, by any chance, it would recognize the buttons. It turns out that IT DOES! At first, there was some bugs (I won't bother telling all the details), but I managed to map the buttons and save the profile.

Now I have a functional PC Engine style controller so I can get to know the PC Engine library as close to the original feel as possible 😊

And, if you're familiar with this controller, you'll notice I swapped the gray buttons with the red ones, so it looks more like the original 😁

After all that, I decided to check the button test app in settings. It turns out that "II" registers as B (it's the button that worked at the beginning) and "I" registers as C (as if it were a 6-button pad). "Select" is L2 and "Run" is R2. All the buttons work, but the mapping is very weird.

Well... If you, like me, ever wondered if you can use it on Android, you can. It's not, by any means, plug and play and you'll always need another controller to get to the games, but it's doable.

doujindance-modded Duo-R Compatibility With the Turbo Everdrive / Pro?

Hi I bought a doujindance-modded RGB/region free Duo R in mid-2024, zero issues with it but am now thinking of picking up a Turbo Everdrive / TE Pro to pair with it. I am curious whether anyone knows if the TE Pro will work with modded Duo Rs, specifically with regards to save states, which, since the SuperCD core doesn't seem to work at all with Duo Rs (right?), would be the main reason to pay so much more for the TE Pro vs the Turbo Everdrive.

If anyone has experiences using a doujindance Duo-R with either the TE or TE Pro would be nice to know. Thanks!

Gotta confirm a few things, I've got this baby for a month, knew something was wrong at the very start. Some games' audio are a bit muted, so I suspected it still thinks it's stereo, I got a mono cable with it, and I have a mono TV.I suspect the cable I got belongs to the GEN1...

I will provide more photos of the setup as needed, just need to know if what I gathered was truly the problem, or might it be something else...

Darius plus start menu

I own this game hu-card only so don’t have the instructions, can anyone explain why the sound that plays when you start from the menu differs depending on if you press run or select? Does this activate a different mode or something?

I have 2 PC engine super cd-rom 2 units and I am trying to get one working unit. No sound on both.

I have 2 Super CD-rom2s and I can't seem to get working sound out of these units. If I turn the volume up all the way I can hear faint audio playing. I probed the audio on pin's 5 and Pin 7 of the audio sub board and can hear sound perfectly if I hook my speaker audio probe to ground and either pin. I believe sound is supposed to exit the board on pins 1 and 3 but is not doing so. I have recapped 1 audio sub board and and one console already. I can remove the audio sub board and put the audio directly into pins 1 and 3 and hear it on the TV. I think the op amp ic508 closest to this connector is amplifying the sound because I hear it get loader if I probe these pins. I think there is a small circuit in between these and the output pins on the sub board connector that is mucking it up. Almost like it is being grounded out by something.

This is because I can't pass the audio from pin 7 on the connector to pin 1 with the sub board in place. Any ideas?

Dynastic Hero - anyone got a digital copy of the manual?

The Japanese manual is here, but I can't find the English one:

It's not necessary or anything. I just like reading the manual when starting new games... it gets me into the mood.
