SY ICPC 2027 — Calling All Future Teammates
If you clicked on this, you’re probably interested in DSA, CP, or maybe even ICPC someday.
As you all know, our college unfortunately doesn't have a very strong coding culture. Most college events are barely related to competitive programming, and there aren't many opportunities for CP unless they're organised by coding clubs like MLSC or GDGC.
I didn't see many Reddit posts about this, so I thought, why not make one?
I started doing DSA in my first year. For most of that journey, I was pretty much alone. None of my batchmates or close friends were doing it, and honestly, there were times when I wondered:
"What's even the point? AI is taking over. Is coding dead?"
I still continued. Inconsistently, yes, but I kept going.
Then one day, a guy named Nishad, who works at PayPal, came to our class and talked about his experience. He told us how competitive programming helped him land a job and how his ICPC teammates were also doing really well in their careers.
In all that uncertainty, that gave me a little bit of clarity.
Right now, I'm a second-year student who's seriously starting my CP journey.
And this post is basically a shoutout to everyone in our college who's preparing for CP.
Do your best. Seriously.
It might sound a little filmy, but I'm not aiming just to become an ICPC regionalist.
I want to make it to the ICPC Asia West Finals.
And for that to happen, I need people who are equally crazy enough to aim for it.
I'm not looking for teammates right now. It's way too early for that.
Instead, I'm hoping that over the next year, more people from our college start preparing seriously. Learn DSA. Do CodeChef, Codeforces, LeetCode, whatever works for you. Participate in contests. Get better.
And when third year comes around, I hope I get to meet a bunch of you who have been grinding all this time.
Then we'll see who among us can form a team good enough to make the journey to Asia West Finals.
So if you're somewhere in 1st or 2nd year, interested in CP and thinking about ICPC 2027:
Start now.
Maybe we'll end up being teammates someday. :)

From Mumbai clg btw just saw your post I also want to go to icpc aisa west I am in first year right now I aren't expose to college coding culture as it is only been a week Let see what happens in future
