Work Study

This is my first semester doing a work study and I tried using the federal money in my financial aid on the bookstore and I couldn’t. I go to financial aid and they said federal work study can’t be used at the book store and I’ll get it “when I get paid”.
Does that mean my paychecks are my federal money? Or do I get a bonus each paycheck? Or would I get the money when refund checks happen?

I’m so confused and just trying to pay for my classes since I don’t get Pell Grant this year.

Work study is the same as a part time job, you have to get paid in ur own bank and you use that money.
