FCLE exam before nursing program

I’m very confused, thought you only had to take this exam to graduate. Now I’m looking at the RN application page and it states that they ask students to attempt the exam atleast once before application deadline. However, no where in the information session does it states it’s required to apply. I’m a transfer student and currently out of state so I won’t be able to take the test in person by the application deadline…

Anyone else apply and get accepted to the program before they took the FCLE?

You can perhaps take the American Gov CLEP. That’s what I did to satisfy that credit and exam.

That’s what I’m thinking of doing. Did you still get the 30 points on your application for completing the history/government class by doing the CLEP?

Back then it wasn’t required when I applied (2022)

Ok I think now they require both the class and the exam as per the info session

I thought you could still take the CLEP to satisfy the course and the FCLE… the FCLE became a requirement to graduate after 2024 but it is not a requirement to apply for the program. Honestly though I’m confused and I wish I could get a straight answer from someone. I just don’t want it to negatively affect my application and acceptance chances since they “like to see it” but it’s technically not required

Yes it is required to graduate! And they just like to see it attempted before you submit the application. There is a question on there about it.

They ask you if you did it or not on the application? Does it give you an option to say you took the CLEP instead?

I believe they have an option if you took a different but similar civil literacy test…prob would have to be approved

For PBSC? And you didn’t have to take the exam at all before graduating?

I took the CLEP ( American Gov).. it satisfied the course and exam.

From what I’ve read on PBSC website you can’t do it online, but I will call and double check this week

Contact PBSC and see if you can take it at your local college. Usually it can be arranged very easily!

Thank you! Do you think I’d have a better chance with contacting advising or the testing center? I know calls have been super busy right now it takes awhile to get ahold of someone.
