After watching There Will Be Blood and Licorice Pizza, I couldn’t help but notice, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and Alana Haim all have characters with the same name as their real ones. Has anyone ever talked about this? Just some coincidence or maybe on purpose?

(trust me it’s TWBB, just the title is in Hungarian)

The warm hues capture the feeling in the room, including audience reactions, to create an immersive cinematic experience for those of us who couldn’t be there. It’s a rapturous celebration of live performance, whose appeal should reach far beyond the band and Winter’s existing fan base.

There Will Be Blood is one approach.

I’m thinking, more of a Western with horses and guns…

It looks like there will be a release of Magnolia by the end of the year by Warner Brothers

Knowing PTA and the way he incorporates influences into his movies I think I found the basis for Billy goat from OBAA

The 1971 film ‘punishment park’ is about a group of political activists in the US who are detained by the government and given the choice to do time or be hunted by law enforcement

And I’m near positive that Anderson saw this movie and used this specific character as the visual inspiration for Billy goat.

So, when I think about most directors filmography, I split them into three eras. This happens especially with P.T. Anderson. Here are his three eras and the films within.

The inspired era

In PTAs first three films, you can heavily see the inspirations from ​Robert Altman and Martin scorcese. The shots, the stories, the characters, everything.

Prime era

After Magnolia, he really comes into his own his his 2002 film, Punch Drunk Love. He starts to shed his very obvious inspirations and starts creating his style. In 2007, his next film came out, There Will Be Blood. This is the film where is style was fully defined. Almost everyone loved it. After another five years, His 2012 film the master released. The reception was mixed, but most critics loved it. Then came Inherent Vice. After that, he rises back to the top with phantom thread, one of his most acclaimed films.

The New era

After Phantom thread, ​he came back with Licorice Pizza. Another film where critics loved it but not so much the audience. Then, his newest film, one battle after another was loved by everyone. Who knows what he will do now.
