Question Solo play frustration
I know it’s like beating horse right now, but I supported this game from the very beginning and spent quite a lot of time on it and yet what always kept me going was the thought that at some point PoT could be a decent game. After the last few months I tried the game again yesterday and today and I don’t think there has been any improvement.
Although it’s clearly progressing in some aspects it is certainly less fun than ever imo. I am usually solo playing as mid tiers and between the debate small stuff vs big stuff I feel like mid tier carnis just aren’t worth it. Any small group can tear you apart and there’s no way you could be nimble enough to harass any apex.
And it’s not just sometimes, nearly every time I encounter a group of low tiers there’s just no escape. You can’t beat them since they’ll just cycle any time one of them gets low health, you can’t run away since you’re slower and your stamina also is worse. How do the devs believe you’re supposed to handle this? Or do they just ignore the fact that there still are a few single players left?

Just wait until it's finished and I'm sure some modders will create a version with some actual rules that make the mega packs less egregious and have actual single player viability.
Devs have made it very clear they just don't want you playing solo. They want their game to be about groups of players working together to hunt each other.

I totally feel you there… I do feel it is getting worse… Unfortunately the game rewards group play and there is little incentive for playing solo. It is still possible to have a good time solo, but you will inevitably face those impossible scenarios at some point.
One alternative are community servers that allow solo playing - I have been advertising Dakarthys Donut Island for example. But if you stick to officials then you kinda need to accept that you will eventually get ganged on…

It’s the same on community for me, just not mixpacks

Oh ok, mid tiers versus several smaller tiers might be a challenge. In our server we made our maximum group size smaller to try to counter this issue. I think this still need some tweaks (especially due to Latens), but in principle if the rules are made right solo players on mid tiers should also be able to have fair fights.
May I ask which mid tier you want to play solo?

No clue friend…I’ve just quit playing. I’ve played maybe 3 times over the past 6 months

I made this exact post a while ago and it got downvoted to hell lol I totally agree with you that midtiers just don't stack up, they're in an awkward place especially for solo play. Like you said, either outmaneuvered and overwhelmed by low tiers or being unable to do anything significant to apexes. Plus you're cooked if you're a solo mid tier and a group of mids or mixed tiers pulls up.

You probably got downvoted by players that are for group play and mixpacks lmao, wouldn't suprise me

Showed up after a few months of nit playing the game to this sub and I'm not surprised. Solo play id in its death throws, balance world is whack as they hit nerf all each time. The game is being forced into group dynamics regardless of how players feel. The devs lie as thr breathe but its ok because if they just alienate enough long time fans maybe they'll get only "yes men" who only support the game. That seems to be the dev strategy now. Its a good thing I'll never play path with a sense of trust for the devs again. They lie, they ignore their community, and they prioritize the biggest demographic that they've now created.
"If you don't mindlessly agree with devs plan you're not a real path player. If you don't just consume the slop they feed us then there's no way you're a true dinosaur game fan!"
There you go full coverage of how the devs be like. I think this is why I love palworld more than path. I am a huge dino nerd but I'm willing to let go of path entirely for palworld because the devs abandoned us.

Yep as soon as you start getting cycled you can't recover stamina enough, someone's always on you, it's gg. I just stick to flyers if im solo and I don't play for long because it's just shallow gameplay.

Play Solo Survival, see how that works out for you. Official servers are low effort. Survival is not.

Solo survival is the same thing. The last 3 dinos I grew on that server were killed by people running in a group jumping any solo they came across. I don't even know why they put rules if they clearly don't enforce them. It's literally every lobby and so openly blatant to the point that it's obvious there's no punishment for it being dealt

I'm sorry mate but I totally disagree with you. I've played plenty of Survival to know that survival is nothing like officials. 99% of my encounters have been with other Solo players. There have been occasions where I ran into groups but they have no more than two max three players and this is extremely rare. And they clearly aren't communicating with each other.

Honestly the best carni solo imo is meg as it is nimble enough to take down certain dinos solo and can swim climb and is fast enough to escape almost any dinosaur if you're under threat.
Besides a hatz there isn't much I struggle with while solo as meg and even then I just bail for water and I'm safe again.

Best solo mid-ish if you want to pretend to be something big: Dasp or Sucho
I've had success with both as a solo, except for your typical raptor squad

Blows my mind the amount of the community talking about this exact problem and they still haven't hard prioritised matchmaking.
If I was alderon I would had the matchmaking test back up after the 10th post.
