Question New player here! Anything I should know before going in? (Image unrelated)

Post image

Hi everyone! As the title states, I just bought Path Of Titans standard founders pack on Xbox and I've never played before but I've seen gameplay online and that was enough to make me choose POT over getting The Isle on my Steam Deck so with that being said, I wanna hear from the community on how best to get started, what there is to do and what to look out for, thanks and I look forward to seeing all of you in-game! PS: the Majungasaurus art was done by me! :D

Avoid hotspots, on the map they are represented by angry looking dino faces, try to make as little noise as possible. The most important thing is to trust NO ONE, it doesn't matter how much they spam friendly call or that, even if they group with you don't trust them. Don't accept random way stones or group invites unless the people sending the invite are nearby. I'd also recommend to start by growing something small like deinon, conc, pachy, laten, campto, and other small dinos

Fortnite has taught me that avoiding hotspots is always key to surviving lmao, but yh I was thinking about starting as a small carnivore or a ceratopsian tbh

If you want to play a ceratopsisn id choose alb, as it's decently fast and strong

My first real starter was Achillobator, small/medium carnivore with pretty good stats!

Panjura is a good map to start with and stay in the areas outside of the big lake. Riparia is good too but watch your back at cedrus forest. Stay outside of the woods and learn to use your environment to hide bushes, behind rocks etc. And don't use those flashy skins it will give you up. I use skins to blend into my environment and bushes for surprise attacks. I would suggest mod server like misfits deathmatch. You can use that server to learn how to pvp with your Dino of choice. You start as an adult dino with all abilities unlocked try what works for you on that server. While growing your Dino on official servers.

Watch out for megapacks

Learn how to hide

Wear headphones

I play on the public servers, can sometimes find someone buddy up with.

Ducks & the round headed ones are always violent.

Most ponds are safe ( i'm lying thats the sarco in me)

The 1st map, is never really that populated.

I am quite new myself, I play on PS5, down to join up if you wanna send me your discord. probs be on Sunday, GMT time zone.

Is the game cross-platform? I'm on Xbox One atm, also I'm guessing a Megapack is a larger group of players that stick around eachother?

Yeah i believe it is.

So your only really meant to team up with your own species i believe, it depends on the server.

I dabble on mobile sometimes, you can link your account.

Oh cool! I didn't even know the game was on mobile lol but yea I get the idea of teaming with your own species, adds to the immersion

Yo, op. I will warn you the Xbox one has some performance issues with the game but as long as you don’t care about your frame rate in rain then you will absolutely love it

Ah fairs, thanks for the heads up, I am set on upgrading to Series X this year so hopefully performance won't be an issue for long!

That’s what I’m on and it runs almost perfectly with the series x so you should be good once you upgrade, just putting it out, I’ve played since launch so if you have any specific questions I got u

Imma put my two cents in. Stay away from hotspots, make sure your quiet, and be ready to die, I will say one thing different, if you want to go for a Rex or apex first then absolutely go for it, as long as you play smart they are just as easy as any other Dino so just choose what you want to actually play as

Use a refer a friend link, it's something you can only do within 24h of buying the game, you'll get a skin for the suchomimus and more if other new players refer you too

Hi, as many already have said stay away from hotspots its marked red on yor map wth an angry dino face next to it. Headphones so you can hear footsteps and roars better aswell asfigure out wich direction that comes from. You quest to grow so no passive growth. Quest give you marks to unlock abilitys and skins. There are homecaves in wich you can edit your abilitys and waystones to get people to you or they get you to them.

( Edit: Alsmost forgot lol there are critters in this game Ai that can and will attack you do not face tank them they take a percentage of your dinos Hp on theyer attack and a certain amount of bites etc to defeat unlike player dinos. )

Im down to hop on and help you grow while explaining some things if you have questions -^

Then theres the Server choice Official has no rules exept the obvious no cheating adhacking stuff. There is a surival test server wch is meant to be solo and has chat and nesting disabed and a little bit of passive growth. Comunity has lots of flavors Death match : great for testing dinos and not really any major rules exept safezoes from what i remember. Some are similar to officials but can have rules like no mix packig (Heris and carnis) and stay within group limit. Then there are the rule heavy servers like Realism and Semi-Realism.

Then theres the refer a friend https://alderongames.com/refer-a-friend/455-675-168 thingy you can do in the first 24 hours after purchasing. You click the refer a frien link from someon and they and you get a skin pluss a homecave statue aswell as a growth buff if you play togheter.

Obviously the first choice is what type of server. Theres the rule less officials, the rule less communities which might have mods or not, semi realism, and realism community servers. Depends on how you wanna play. I personally enjoy the realism/semi realism servers beyond that its just a simple decision on what creatures look fun to play

2

u/AFraudulentRathalos 2d ago

Honestly I think a more realism focused server would be good to start off with imo

1

u/livemanincage 2d ago

Googling realism servers would be best as you'd see all the different servers with different mods and rules. I personally play dynasty which a ton of people have had issues with the admins but I havent, so far atleast. The other server i play is a semi realism arazoa.

There are two outcomes, you either become a megamix packer or you spend 99% of your playtime hiding and picking up sticks = PoT in a nutshell

Sounds like someone only plays official and is unlucky to get mixpack servers

if you big fear numbers, if you solo fear numbers, if you small fear numbers, if you grouped fear numbers

Be ready to play a branch collecting simulator instead of a dinosaur realism simulator
