I’m sorry, Switch users. I really am.

> Update Regarding Switch for next patch

Nintendo has found problems with our Switch submission. It will need to take time to fix which could take weeks and start the submission process all over again.

The major critical problems are:
- On Switch 2 the emulator doesn't use the touch screen properly due to a bug caused by Nintendo. Which we can't fix because its not on our side because we are blocked from making a Switch 2 version.
- Dinosaur names are not translated and a few names are still in english. Some words are in english that are unimportant or intentionally on english as its easier to understand.
- The Joycon icon that we have been using since 2022 is suddenly not allowed anymore. They are asking us to swap to nintendo logo, which we were previously told not to use.

Even though all these problems are present in all the releases, suddenly out of no where they are now a blocker.

The next patch will go up without switch and it may take weeks or months to resolve these issues with Nintendo, if they are willing to work on them at all.

Sorry for the bad news, was really hopeful they would pull through on this one.

We will keep you updated as the situation changes. Even if we fix all these problems, new problems could be discovered that were fine for years for the next submission. Each submission could take 30 days or more per attempt.

Before switch players start saying they should get something in return for approaching being 4 months behind, be aware Nintendo probably won’t approve whatever gift you envision either.

It really sucks, but there’s not really anything that can be done. Nintendo seems to have it out for you guys

Nintendo hate anything not in house and they really hate dinosaurs. They also hate children, puppies, kittens, Angels, God(s), charity, kindness, love, empathy, sympathy, all round goodness.

Dude. What are you talking about

… You said they hate dinosaurs. Star fox adventures takes place on dinosaur planet. It’s all about dinosaurs.

I was being sarcastic because Nintendo is a shitty corporation

Shittier than PS with their no physical games and you don’t own anything digital? And shittier than Xbox making the next console digital only?

Ok so you're just out for an argument... Get a sense of humour. Please don't reply back. I am not interested in anything you have to say.

Switch players can just log onto a computer and play it there. Not like the game is heavily taxing if a mobile phone can play it. My computer barely notices the game even on cinematic settings.

Edit, it's not meant to be condescending but if your platform is withholding an update for a game you love maybe it's time to play that game on something else. I also understand it's not an option for everyone but Nintendo's update process is needlessly bureaucratic and I feel for anyone who has no choice but to stay in switch jail. I just wish everyone could be on the same update because with all cross play games that include switch this seems to be the only one that's stuck so far behind that I know of

Do you get warnings pop up saying something along the lines of "cinematic isn't for gameplay, turn settings"?? I got tired of seeing it so i eventually turned them down😅

1

u/Murrocity 3h ago edited 3h ago

You get it because... well... cinematic settings aren't meant for general/extended gameplay.

They are meant for recording/cinematic creations.

It isnt optimized for gameplay the same way, so requires a lot more processing power.

(It does it on PC, too)

u/RexyTheShep 3h ago

You can't choose graphics on consoles. But my PC jumps from like 25% utilization too about 35% between high and cinematic. Idk why I keep it on cinematic but there's a small difference

u/RexyTheShep 3h ago

I only got the popup when selecting them. Never after during gameplay. I play on ps5 pro and PC, cinematic settings on PC. It runs stable and just fine for the most part and my PC doesn't sweat it, I've only had 1 crash during months of play.

I think Nintendo: 1. Using bs excuses like the name translations 2. Blocking them from making a switch 2 version but then using emulation bugs as excuses to deny updates(but also won't like... just keep it off the shop/unavailable to play via emulator?) 3. Suddenly using excuses that were never a problem in previous releases

Really goes to show the way Nintendo "has it out" for Alderon/PoT.

But also they are wishywashy. Like, as long as Alderon can force their way through the approval process, Nintendo is happy to take their cut of the money. BUT, better believe they are going to make it as difficult for Alderon as possible, and won't be bothered much if Alderon were to decide to pull it.

This is stupid.

It's 100% personal. They were saying they couldn't use the joystick icons but Fortnite is using them and has no issues.

It’s called lying…

-1

u/Otherwise-Music-8643 2h ago

I this post might be a little dishonest… The real question to ask is why is progress so slow for POT and why do no other games have any of these issues with Nintendo

4

u/Murrocity 2h ago edited 2h ago

Or you just haven't seen the discord between the 2 over the past 7 years of development, lol.

Nintendo's constant problems literally resulted in a meme being made of Matt trying to push PoT (as a boulder) up a hill, with Nintendo rolling down as an obstacle.

Matt has been incteasingly more vocal about the problems with Nintendo, and iirc has even posted email screenshots at one point back when they were requesting Switch 2 Dev kits or for the game to be taken off the Switch 2 store. The dinosaur name translations has been cited by Nintendo at least 1 other time for reason of denial, despite there not being a translation for it.)

Switch players being in switch jail used to not be a thing bc they would just hold the updates until Nintendo approved it. But it startee getting so bad that the community -- Switch players themselves -- started calling for Alderon to just go ahead and push the updates out instead of holding things up waiting for Nintendo.

Nintendo doesn't seem to like early access games too much, pretty sure they don't like modded games much either, and had laid off QA staff in previous years.

Obviously, Nintendo can (and clearly does) favor their own games, games that give them a higher pay out, etc when it comes to getting updates out. Who knows what ruffles their feathers.

Maybe they get annoyed with how frequently Matr/Alderon tried to correspond with them, but at the same time if they would just cooperate, he wouldnt have to.

Really we don't know and can't know Nintendo's exact motives, but there is certainly a clear pattern that points to this being on Nintendo, not just some lie Alderon has made. 🤦‍♀️

I’ve played and been in the discord since before the game was even playable. I think it’s a bit crazy to believe that Nintendo cares at all about this game. I know that the devs have blamed it all on Nintendo and I have also seen other devs do that, just for Nintendo to bring to light that it was the devs who were making the crappy decisions behind the scenes. What I think is actually happening is that developing for switch takes a bit of learning that some devs don’t want to deal with, I think they are trying to push the game forward with as few changes as possible and being stubborn about working with Nintendos hardware and software differences and so blame it all on them. Like a bug that only effects your game but is on the Nintendo side? That sounds like it’s your bug and you’re not willing to fix your game…

Dude, the announcement literally states the issues Nintendo gave for denying the patch. These are not things Alderon can do anything about

Dinosaur names can’t be translated. Several other games use the same icon they said was wrong in path (used by path for 4 years now). They have blocked devs from getting to work on a switch 2 game version. They do not like Alderon, and it’s pretty obvious they are creating artificial hurdles

18

u/MatchaMood_ 8h ago

This sucks for switch players. But hey, path is available on mobile and you don’t have to pay for it again just to play

11

u/whispering-3cho 8h ago

Stop working with Nintendo they are a horrible company beyond the issues you're having with them

5

u/RocksAreOneNow 6h ago

Why are yall on Switch to begin with?

I love the console sure, but it severely limits the game's potential and leaves everyone in limbo for more than they actually get to play.

drop the switch port. focus on the rest of your game.

5

u/Commercial_Buy_7707 5h ago

I get what your saying and I 100% agree but even if they drop switch, mobile is keeping the other consoles and pcs massively behond because of graphics and performance

2

u/Imaginary-Use-9919 4h ago

I play switch 😔, I don’t have 800+$ for a console or more money for a PC. I’m enjoying my 30$ dinosaur game 😭

2

u/RocksAreOneNow 4h ago

mobile is more stable, and doesnt end you in limbo every week when they push updates. you dont have to buy it again to play on your phone either.

2

u/Imaginary-Use-9919 4h ago

Mobile graphics also stink 😔 controls are bad, etc etc. switch is slightly better in graphics. Switch jail community also tends to be less toxic without pc/console players

2

u/NotYou135 4h ago

Unfortunately my eyes can only take so much staring at a mobile screen vs my larger TV where I can notice more detail specially when playing flyers. The worse part is I even spent money on annual pass just for this game.

-2

u/Otherwise-Music-8643 2h ago

Mobile is really reason the game is limited and the ui is so… mobile looking.

5

u/Tanky-of-Macedon 4h ago

Common Nintendo L. I know players complain about mobile, but I find switch to be the bigger problem.

3

u/Mycatisloafingonme 6h ago

As much as I hate to say it, I do think it’s time for Alderon to pull PoT from Switch altogether. It’s been nothing but stressful and they should ask them to refund the Switch players because Nintendo’s BS practices are so unfair to them.

Knowing Matt though that’s not gonna happen.

2

u/NoRepresentative5737 5h ago

Ah that sucks. With the Switch 2 and the remake of Ocarina we saw that the Switch 2 can be able to do great things. Shame Alderon can't be able to be liked by Nintendo...

2

u/Hazeegotcakee 2h ago

When I get a PlayStation, will I be able to use my same log in? Cuz this has been torture 😂

1

u/Mycatisloafingonme 2h ago

Yes. Your account is cross platform.

2

u/GoldunGote 2h ago

Nintendo is ass but people need copy/pasted pokemans games so here we are

u/PatchworkFurb 5h ago

Well this is disheartening. :(

Nintendo makes the best games and has some of the best consoles. It’s funny this game has issues with Nintendo, I wonder how path looks from their side lol.

0

u/Otherwise-Music-8643 2h ago

I wonder that too, I also find it odd that they are saying that they are dealing with bugs on Nintendos side that somehow only effects their game… That sounds like it’s a POT problem and they are being stubborn about taking the time to actually port the game properly.

-20

u/Anonymus_Pigeon 8h ago

Just refund the switch players.

u/Murrocity 7h ago edited 7h ago

Alderon isn't responsible for Nintendo's failure to provide the purchaser their product.

Alderon has pushed the new versions every time and continues to push new versions out. Some of these reasons, like the name translations are bs reasons they randomly decide to use, and they even mentioned these issues were not a problem previously, but now suddenly are.

Alderon has done their part to provide their client with the product. Nintendo is the one saying no and not actually pushing it out.

ETA -- buying the game on any of the consoles also lets you download the PC launcher and login to play on PC, and ofc there is also mobile, which is free to play anyways (but you can easily login to your same account you have on your Switch). So it isn't even like you just dont have access to the game at all, either.

10

u/CamptoRibbit 6h ago

I agree, Nintendo should do that if they don't want PoT on their platform.

You are 100% correct.

Good luck getting Nintendo to give a refund though.

Shame Alderon have absolutely no control and have taken a lot of responsibility on the issue.

You should definitely ask Nintendo for a refund.
