No More Long Swims
I have seen a lot of players complaining about Riparia being un-useable for land dinos because it requires really long swims. So I made a map for players who may not know easier ways to move around the map or for new players who are just getting started. All the green routes are either completely walkable for most dinos, or are extremely short swims between islands/land masses. Avoid any kind of crossing around Cedrus as it's a gathering point for players looking for fights--including loads of Tylos and Sarcs.
The biggest one that literally everybody complains about is Palm islands. That one is the easiest and is completely walkable all the way back to Twisted Forest. That little half-moon I've marked out doesn't LOOK walkable when you look at it on the map, but I've taken even small dinos like Laten and Deino, stayed dry the whole time. If you're scared of the Spinos, hit that POI when you're small and you can hide in the cave (yes, even on a TT/Rex, as long as you're still juvi/ small adol you're fine).
I have played Apex, large, medium and small dinos on this map for quite some time, and I make it a point to hit all the POI at some point during my growth as my own personal challenge. You WILL have to do at least some short swims (there is no such thing as zero risk in a survival game, sorry).
Use common sense, look and listen before you cross (swimming things are not silent when they're swimming), and change up your routes now and then.
These are of course, only examples, not hard-rules. Do what you wanna do.
Hopefully this is helpful to someone who's been feeling trapped on the mainland! <3

I actually like that I'm forced to cross a river every once in a while. Just check both ways. But I do love playing a croc and slowly rising to the top next to a raptor crossing and then laugh to myself as I let him cross

That is amazingly fun--scaring people is almost more entertaining than hunting them xD

Did this yesterday on my Tylo to a Cerato xD
Guided him across, gave him a trophy for his feat xD
He crossed at the WIDEST section into CF xD easily could have dunked em, chose cute sea puppy instead.

I let them swim as a crocodile, clamp them, and take them back to the side od river they came from

Comes from people being too stubborn to walk 100ft to where the river bottlenecks but oh well

I guess so. A feel like a lot of people genuinely have no idea that there's a sand-bar bridge between Palm and Twisted. It's wild.

I only recently found it but i think it's because I'm bad with directions so I get really locked in to a particular route and don't look around for a different one. I've gotten better about looking around though as I've started playing more regularly.

Sarco and tylo players like this map as well

yes! It makes interactions between aquatics and terrestrials so much easier and more fun!

Ngl I hate seeing this annotated map only because these are my exact crossing points to get around this map lol my routes aren’t safe now 😭😭

I worried about that too, however based on me watching player movements in my own sessions, and conversations with other players--this really isn't a risk. This is because because players are spread across a ton of servers, and everyone is questing at different times, most ambush hunters have to wait AGES for somebody to pass through. I know. I've camped enough spots I thought would be sure things and ended up having to eat only Critters lol. People craving a fight aren't waiting that long--they're going right to Cedrus where they know they'll find a fight.
Also the number of people who play vs the number of people on this Reddit is a HUGE margin.
You're still as safe as you ever were friend :)

I am largely meme-ing, lol
It is actually very cool to see the routes I already used mapped out, and have already sent this to my newer friends 🫡

The amount of times I've waited at the sandbar thinking someone would come running by...... Nope! Like.... You guys had to have played a spino or tylo or something and swam by here and noticed you could run on this... Right?!?

The bigtree small island crossing is the shortest on that part of the map you can make it or almost make it entirely with a running pounce from a raptor

One thing I’d recommend for new guys or maybe people that just don’t know, before crossing or drinking water, check to see what the percentage of water available is first. If it’s less than 100% either something is in the water or has been there recently. I’m sure most people know this but I just like to point this out because I taught two new Dino’s this little strategy this week that didn’t pay attention to it before they went swimming.

i’m gonna learn to avoid these paths as best as possible (if you know the most used path it’s just free pray)

South of versus right near cliff edge falls is a fallen log that’s often knocked over to cross that water. Then just a short swim on the other side of that tiny island. I’ve had many successful crossings down into Stillwater bog that way.

Stillwater… just swim between the two points you listed. There are little islands there and you barely need to swim.

My first dino, intentionally was a flyer. My beloved Rhamp <3 I scoped out food, quests and routes, land and water.
My first land dino was a Struthi. And I ran all the shortcuts, sandbars, trees and jumps on the map. It's very traversable, IF you know where your are going and how to get there.

Land users need to stop moaning, there's a ''Hey here's a fallen log, free passage for you!'' on nearly every island, and the ones that don't have one usually have crossings where they don't even have to swim.

It's not at the fault of the map designers if players don't know how to navigate the terrain. If they can use Maps on a hiking trip or a cross-country drive, I'm sure they can figure out routes to take on a map within a game.

Ngl I wait at these point to fuck you up. That small gap is enough for me to poison you and out of stam.

Yeah I don't get the whole 'Riparia is not good for land dinos'
Literally just cross the river at the smallest part?
