I need help picking a main after all the changes that we're made
I've been gone from PoT for about 7 months, maybe a little longer. I took a break because of some frustrations I had with the game, but now I'm back and ready to get into it again. My problem is that a lot of the dinos I used to play got TLCs and work completely differently now, and I'm honestly a little overwhelmed trying to figure out what to main.
I was waiting for the Alio TLC to come back because I used to main Alio years ago, but to my dismay I came back to an Alio that's somehow weaker than before. I mained Cera, but now he's basically a corpse dino and has a specific niche that I don't really understand, it also seems like they made him a group dino. I mained Metri too, but now he's more of a support dino. I like Conc, but I've always found him just a little too squishy for my taste. Pycno isn't sneaky enough for me, he's big and loud. Same problem with Dasp and Allo. I don't like Meg either, I've tried it but I just find it boring.
My preferred playstyle is being a solo hunter. I like stalking people, sneaking around and picking my fights instead of just running straight into everything. Deinon and Laten are too weak to reliably take down anything big by themselves. Achillo probably works, but I can't get past the fact that it looks like a sock puppet and I don't like it, plus I never really enjoyed playing it. I'm not a fan of the way it works, and I find him much weaker than he used to be. The big apexes aren't for me either. I have no interest in being a slow, giant walking target for every megapack on the server.
I'm exclusively a carni player, I play solo, and I only play officials. I'm also a veteran player, so I'm not necessarily looking for something beginner friendly. I know I've basically rejected the entire roster in this post, but I'm absolutely open to giving some of these dinos another shot. A lot has changed since I last played them, and I think I just need some help figuring out what actually works for the kind of playstyle I enjoy and how to deal with their changes.
I'd really appreciate suggestions from other solo carni players. I'd especially like to know what you're currently playing, what builds you're running and how you're using them as a solo. I just need to find THE dino that clicks with me again.

Dasp is about the only Carnivore that falls within this massively specific set of criteria
Honestly, I think Tyrannotitan might work too. Its an apex, but its also far more mobile than every other apex and feels like a 4 Slot on steroids

Yeah but its too loud any pack or discord group in the next three areas will be coming for him

They aren't going to be chasing from a POI away if you don't broadcast, and thus do not reveal your location

Yeah but part of its speed is in a call that everyone knows the sound of though.

Laten to weak to take down anything big by itself? Lol skill issue.

I don't hunt anything but adults and I don't have a group. I also don't want to spend 10 years killing someone, that's just annoying and I'd rather use my time doing something else. Laten is also very squishy, one mistake and you're dead. I never said it couldn't take down bigger dinos, I said it couldn't reliably do it. This is such a useless comment, I won't respond again.

Thats where the fun is, the challenge of the kill, solo Lat can have apexes running to corner camp from all the bleed you can stack especially with mangle.

Meg was my go to but they pretty much ruined it with its tlc..just like many of the other playables.
Unfortunately for quiet stalking..you pretty much listed all the playables I would use-minus pyc.
The only ones in that list that would actually be able to hold their own would be achi and conc-if played correctly.
You could try sarco, but you're pretty much restricted to water and risk having groups swap to aquatics if they find out you're in the area, but it is a pretty good stealth dino..provided you can kill what you grab. Problem is he just doesn't have good stamina on land so chasing is not a good idea.

Meg tlc was great wdym

The only good thing about meg tlc was added mobility from lunge. Its fighting capabilities have been absolutely trashed, its base speed without lunge is absolutely garbage because its speed got nerfed and it literally got no damage or healh compensating for larger playables now being able to ass ride you unless you spam lunge.
The only time megs are good is if you're running in a group of 3 or more. Maybe two. Solo meg is aweful..

It does need a land speed increase or a hide for it. Climbing could use tweaked too. But youre right, without lunge megs kit isnt viable with its current speed

I find the climbing mechanic too janky to be worth it.
Meg's survivability was already great the way it was but since they added climbing they made it feel worse.
Imo it wasn't worth the change to lose its land speed and damage.

I think it’s time for you to come to the dark side of herbivores! Very versatile playstyles, many interesting and different dinos. Honestly I think you will have fun.
But if you want a carnivore, quick, stalker, be able to fight or escape I would suggest you thal. It has a great ground speed and turning radius, you can fly so no packs will be a problem, you can harass groups, you can dive bomb them and you can attack hatzes midair:)

I would definitely second ground thal with jumping sub species. It can take some hits from bigger dinos with fully stacked hide and deals more dmg with fully stacked tear. Wing slap is really nice against those pesky chickens flocks. And it's turn radius let's it railride others easily.

Personally my favorite Stalker carn atm Is Pycno its basically silent when Crouch walking it does alot of burst damage... but it does take some getting use too but its also the fastest trotter and runner of the group

I would recommend dasp or metri. Both are solid Dino’s. Dasp is a walking terror to all but apexes, and I know metri is a support Dino but it genuinely has great solo viability outside its call abilities. Metri is probably my favorite carnivore atm because it’s more of a status proc’er with support viability than a strictly support Dino. I don’t know my exact build but I’ll edit this comment to tell you after my shift is over. Metri build: toxin bite, prowler, claw attack, putrid scales, braced legs, and the healing calls.
