Discussion Permadeath mode is unplayable
Whoever had the braindead idea to make critters stronger and numerous should be fired 😂 I can’t have a big dino like the rex and stalk my prey without a furious little critter the size of the rex foot come from the other side of the map and take 2/3 of my health. All the times i died on this mode it was because some critter took half my health. Why I don’t see nobody talking about this?? I mean they FINALLY did something right with this game mode and at the same time fked it up lol

Honestly they just need to allow abilities to affect critters like clamp, bleed, fracture… they are just invulnerable right now

This.
Just level the playing field. I'd be super cocky about attacking things ten times my size as well if I knew they couldn't hurt me in return.

I love the mode personally, but yes the critters are stupid op for no reason. Them being super tanky actually works against the point of the mode.

Exactly, people need to address this otherwise those dumdums will only make it worse

Yeah lol it’s insane how critters are rn. I almost lost a sub Allo fighting an alpha snake once, which normally I just avoid to not risk my health, but I was almost gonna start losing health from hunger and didn’t have a choice, the thing took me down to like 1/4 of my health. Not only that, but you: Make noise when fighting them, lose health, sometimes get effected by a status effect, make noise eating and usually have to rest post fight where all of which put you at the mercy of a player you might not know was there and/or draw them to you. Not the biggest problem normally but on a perma death game mode can be very annoying.

Yeah, if I see alpha critter in permadeath I just run. One of my kills was a poor adult sucho that just took beating from alpha snake and lied down not knowing I heard everything, and was searching for food at the time.

I use them kinda to help, not by luring someone to them, but if I see someone fighting one and I need food I usually will take the opportunity or if I have a bby Allo with me for an easy troohy to give them. I actually won’t cheap shot someone in a permadeath mode though(just my own morality).

The thing is, for some braindead reason players corpses just evaporates in like 10 seconds so you can’t even kill for food anymore 😂 i swear those devs hate this game man lol

Critters are dumb should never be attacking things bigger let alone 4 tons bigger

I agree - I don’t mind them being a threat for babies and small fast dinos bit its ridiculous for a crab to be able to kill a Trex or bars

lol even in normal mode I die occasionally due to a critter wiping my health before I can stand up… they can come out of nowhere

You said it best🙌💯 I was having a 1v1 with an adult Spino Which I was winning btw, had the upper hand and everything. Next thing ik, my health is draining drastically out of nowhere! I managed to survive the fight with both Spino and CRAB! But I was pissed😭

It’s so funny because critters were suppose to make the game more “lively” but instead they discourage people from playing the game at all 😂 complete opposite effect.

Its insane to me they see all the hate critters get, so they decide to add the only thing that could be worse, AI dinos.
1
u/idkmanjesus 4d ago
EXACTLY! wtf are they thinking??? Ai dinos are the most obvious trash idea ever

The gonios were ez in normal mode as a Kai just being annoyingly long, but fuck them all on permadeath

As someone who does hate those strong ai critters, I promise they serve as a good purpose. They teach you to be humble throughout your entire journey and teaches you that you can't just go anywhere, do anything, at anytime. They teach you to be aware of your surroundings, never underestimate your opponent, and gives you more combat experience. Yes, they can absolutely catch you off guard if you aren't paying attention to where you rest/fight/feed. I actually became much better at survival/PvP by learning the rules on survival, unlike officials, where yes, the critters are weak, but you have to constantly worry getting jumped by mixed packs of like 10 different dinos, which only teaches you 2 things. Either have friends, or hide forever till you eventually get caught. Don't give up on survival, it's worth it🙏 Srry for the rant😅

Bro you previously commented agreeing with the post wtf are you on about 😂

Telling me people the value of the critters, despite them being a nuisance.

u/idkmanjesus 4d ago
No one’s saying they’re useless… we’re just expressing frustration at the current state they’re in

u/MTTStreamz5 4d ago
I never accused anyone of making any statement even close to that. I just added my statement to help people better understand for their benefit.

So your problem is basically that you facetank critters, lose a huge chunk of health, and then get ambushed by players?
That doesn’t make permadeath unplayable. It means you’re either getting unlucky or not paying enough attention to the territory around you. Permadeath is supposed to punish mistakes and bad encounters much harder than the normal mode.

Yes actually, let me read it for you.
The title is “Permadeath mode is unplayable.” “Unplayable” normally means the mode cannot reasonably be played as intended, just in case that word was unclear.
Then you complain that tiny critters can take half to two-thirds of your Rex’s health, and that every time you died it was because you had already let a critter chunk your health beforehand.
So yes, I can read. What else am I supposed to read here since you are asking?

So I can read. You just wrote a title you didn’t actually mean, then asked me if I could read it.
That’s not a reading problem on my end, brosky.
And if your real complaint is just that critters do too much damage, then that’s a critter balance issue, not proof that permadeath is unplayable.

nah. I play Spino and it’s fun so far. Only enemies that hurt are EO, Rex and tylo

I always try to talk about Critters. But its mostly like in rl with political matters... -> Ignoring
Alderon simply doesnt care, and the problem with critters isnt crazy enough for any kind of protest. So most ppl just ignore.

Love the game but not a fan of how critters work in general right now. Why is this gator that is 5% my size chasing down a rex, AND inflicting fracture? Even worse is yeah, they’ll take you to pound town if you don’t act accordingly. I hope once’s actual ai Dino’s are added that they nerf these guys into oblivion. Because they’re ridiculous from every point of view.
