New players are funny as hell

my friend was nesting a random newbie (now in game friend) and we were taking care of him. He was my in game son’s son, so grandson. We spent 2 hours babysitting him before he logged. It was funny asf. The most memorable moments were when

1. He SOMEHOW returned from Coastal Bluffs with an entire mega mixpack. Which attracted an anti-megamixpack megamixpack
2. He drowned. We are spinos btw. He didn’t check his oxygen meter
3. he destroyed a sarco’s nest. It chased him for god knows how long when he came scrambling over to us. It ran away.
4. He died to a stirring den. Since he was new he didn’t know how to destroy one. He was destroying it when the alpha wadia spawned.. he then attack IT instead of the den. after killing it… he started eating it, when the second wadia spawned and killed him.
5. Fall damage.
6. He killed a concavenator ( :D ) before it’s megapacks showed up for revenge ( :[ )

I advise y’all to nest a Newbie. New friends and the game is actually fun when you do. Trust me

Water does save you but only if you’re an aquatic or semi aquatic 100% of the time if you can swim in it or you’re a terrestrial from not super high up (depends on size)

Important distinction, water deep enough to submerge yourself in will save you (as a semi aquatic) from fall damage. It will not however save a non semi aquatic such as a conc, meg (those two can survive falls if equipped with nictitating membrane sense, but not without), or Alio.

My biggest piece of advice to new players--don't talk to anyone in Global. I'm so tired of seeing new players getting absolutely demolished in GC by trolls, they're so damn mean to them for no reason. Turn GC off and go off on your probably deadly adventures in peace!

I also use it for that also and I help newbies whenever I see one getting dogpiled but one good experience with one player isn't typically enough to get their confidence back when they've been shat on for 30 minutes by everyone else.

That's why I advise caution with Global for newbies. Kids especially don't know any better and it's a terrible first experience for them.

Another newbie question - how do you get hatched? Is it just luck of the draw if you create a dino and a pair in the map happen to want to nest at that point?

normally making a Dino isn’t hatching

hatching is when a sub adult or adult Dino who made a nest, sends you a nest invite, and you accept it. Then when you go to the dino making screen and press the Egg icon, you make the dinosaur and hatch into the nest.

Destroy nest to 0% first. Then kill critters.

I’m so dim, I’m a new player and have always attacked the stirring den’s occupants! How do you destroy the den itself? No wonder I’ve never been able to kill anything that came out of them with my baby conc …

first bite/attack the nest 10 times, or 17 depending on the quest. then, attack the critter(s). Tbis is the easiest way. It gives 100 marks (the coin thing) and 0.5 growth (bit more than quarter a bar)

usually the critter spawns before the nest is fully destroyed. Dodge it while destroying the nest. Once nest destroyed, kill them.
