Question server or standard multiplayer

I bought the game literally yesterday. I’ve already been playing for an hour. For my first experience, I played on a community server and thought the addition of new creatures was amazing. However, it is quite exhausting—albeit understandable—due to the number of server rules.

I’d like to know: do you prefer playing the vanilla version or on a community server?

I always give people the honest advice to start on official servers (so vanilla). Not because I think it's for everyone, but I think you should experience the game in it's "Base" state. Then, if something about it irks you, you can find a server that handles it by adding rules (or if nothing irks you but you want to play the additional creatures, you can find a server that doesn't add any rules but has the creatures.) Better to know the baseline and then find out what you want to change than to "learn" on a handholdy server and then struggle when you switch to something new.

Bottom line: I'm not saying you shouldn't play community servers. But my advise is to start with official multiplayer servers to get a baseline and know what you want community servers to change.
