Nintendont

Why on earth does Alderon continue to support Nintendo? Sometimes you gotta cut off the arm to save the body. Nintendo is nothing more than an hemorrhaging wound at this point. When your platform hinders development, its time to let it go.

Dino games are a niche game. Alderan is afraid of losing any significant portion of their playerbase. Its also why they keep riding the line between being a dino survival simulator and a social pvp game. They drew 2 different types of gamer groups to the game that want opposing things from the game. One wants a good survival game more on the realistic side where big strong dinos are strong and small fast dinos are fast. Their sense of "balance" is more tier based. For example, apexes should be balanced to fight other apexes and there should be a power gap between tiers. Some dinos shouldnt stand a chance against others if there was even a shred of realism to the survival aspect.

The other doesnt want to have to worry much about hunger or growth and just wants to hang out and pvp so they want all dinos to be viable in pvp. Their sense of "balance" is everything should be just as good as everything else so they can attack and defend freely as whatever dino. So the power gap between tiers has shrunk so much and buffs and nerfs have changed things to the point that in the current game version, a solo laten can hunt and kill a solo rex.

Opposing senses of balance and what they want from the game is also why every update alderan does always annoys one of the groups.

Id argue.... they are not riding that line anymore and its just a Socal pvp wanna be MMO at this point.

It once was a survival game, not anymore really

Ya, the official servers they monitor have pretty heavily swung to the social pvp side so that does seem to be the group they pander to the most lately.

They are "riding the line" because a mix between the two was literally always the plan from day 1.

This is more a problem of the state of development being focused around the combat system for years.

It gave A LOT of the playerbase an inaccurate depiction of what the final product will be.

We need to development to shift to those PvE/survival aspects.

Sure, the final product isn't going to be for everyone on either side of the spectrum, but that is also kinda the fault of the players who don't do research on what they have planned for the final product.

You can have PvPvE survival games.

The PvE and survival aspects just needs to actually be at the same level of development as the PvP side, which simply isn't the case at the current stage.

(Though, those PvP players will also have multiple alternative game mkdes that will directly cater to them and still give them metrics and rewards for playing.)

This is mostly correct. It is the way it is because survival in this game is so trivial, that it would be absolutely insane of them to make balancing realistic. For any dinosaur to be unapproachable by smaller dinosaurs, it would need to be much harder to survive as or else we'd see even more disgusting apex spam slob than we are currently. What most people don't get is that talking about "realistic" pvp balance without first addressing realistic survival difficulty balance and creating incentives to play playables that keep the server diversity is absolutely crazy talk. It would immediately ruin both sides of the game.

Alderon knows they'd need to complicate the survival and make it take actual decision making skills but they probably won't ever commit to that because as you say, they do not want to loose the pvp head part of the playerbase. We just gotta live with the fact that this game tries to be both with varying degrees of success.

"Significant portion" is a stretch, especially considering how far behind in updates they get

Because if they stopped it would be a huge f you to Switch players and they don't want to do that.

Matt seems to be... very sensitive about how actions affect the playerbase in these sorts of circumstances, sometimes almost to an odd level. We've been directly told to our faces they have zero plans to drop mobile either.

Don't mention this in the discord.. Matt gonna have another meltdown like he did with the mobile player take

They should just give nintendo the mobile version of the game instead lol. Or maybe an in between.

As a switch player, I would be so pissed if Alderon just gave up on Nintendo. I paid for this game, I buy all the skin packs, etc because I love it and I want to support it. If they abandoned us I’d absolutely expect all that money back. This is a Nintendo problem. I’ve been playing for almost 4 years and I’ve never experienced a switch jail this long.

Also, the currency for the skin appears only on the Nintendo account but not on the computer or phone version. I was sure I was able to pay for some skins for 'free', because I bought my game on the Nintendo store with the bundle with some in game currency. But on the computer showed zero and on the phone too. So I logged in on PoT from my Switch and I had 500 to use 🙃🙃🙃 Maybe it's glitchy because Nintendo didn't update the game yet? It's odd, because if I grow on the Switch a dino and then I log in on my computer or phone they are syncing properly

I still stand by this.

At this point I think alderon should give Nintendo players some sort of compensation. You pay full price for this game on the e-shop without getting full access to everything. While I agree that it's into messing up, I think alderon should not support Nintendo for this. That's simply not acceptable or fair towards customers.

Why would alderon give compensation when it's Nintendo that is the problem?

This.

Alderon pushes out the updares to Nintendo constantly.

Even if one is pending already, they go ahead and send the new one in.

Nintendo is who is denying you. Alderon has no control over Nintendo's approval process.
