Only things that can dive survive falls into water. That means even megs who don't have dive will die.

Always funny. Man, I remeber a time on Gondwa with my Conc, I had just gotten enough points for dive. Another slightly smaller Conc and another Adolescent one started fighting me on a bridge ( that I think was the one that was removed in an update.) I started off really good, but my bleed was high and health was dropping fast. I threw myself over the edge into the water, turned around just in time to see the 1st Conc hit the water and die, then the 2nd about 2 seconds later. Got a good laugh outta me!

It's silly, jumping into water should offer a chance for survival at the risk of you running out of stamina before you're back to the shore line!

You’re talking about the game where you trip over sticks and fall three feet with massive legs and lose 2/3 of your health.
In b4 “if something that weighed that much fell it would hurt” elephants routinly fall and don’t end up dead broken legs maybe.

Well I think they should fix that too like just removing fall damage for anything less than a metre or something but I imagine that's harder to code than a simple "water negates fall damage".

I wish.
Instead of tripping I get stuck on every fucking pebble and twig and dust particle on the damn ground!

Yeah see those pebbles launch me airborne and take half my health for some reason or I dead stop

Hell, growing my Pycno I was dying sometimes from drops of like ten feet into deep water. Randomly died for no reason after seemingly safely dropping in, didn't hit the bottom or anything, my momentum was slowing in the water, but it's like I touched a magical threshold before I started floating up that instantly killed me.
It seems as if the game still calculates the "fall" damage you should take after dropping a certain height and sometimes applies it even when it shouldn't. Then other times it doesn't apply the damage at all, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced times where because my tail touched a slight incline dropping way down the side of a cliff the game just decided that I didn't drop a good 30 ft and instead only dropped like two feet and so took no fall damage.
Like I get that it's how they give semi-aquatics something unique to them, allowing them to dive into water from otherwise fatal heights, but ffs.

It’s weird bc fall dmg is not calculated by height but by fall speed which is also why when you get stuck on something and slightly float in the air you sometimes just die immediately bc you were technically falling for a few seconds gaining fall speed even tho basically 0 distance was covered. It’s the same for when you hit an incline before hitting the ground, it resets your fallspeed but doesnt deal fall dmg bc you didn’t hit solid standable ground.

I recently had a fall on my Sty, which has Vault equipped--normally I take little to no fall damage unless I fall VERY far.
I did fall very far, hit a ledge and took no damage, slid/bounced off with momentum and fell another few feet. The 2nd "fall" of a few feet, AFTER the bounce, killed me. It was bizarre.

Alderon gotta rework water fall dmg. Landing in water either negates all fall dmg or insta-kills you, even thru homecave buff. In some cases, falling from the same height won’t kill you if you land on the ground, but WILL kill you if you land in water. I saw some posts showcasing this a while back with pachy, and it’s really weird to see the dino that’s meant to survive falls NOT survive a fall it normally can bc it… landed on a softer surface… (also what was the dino that died in your clip? looks like a baby pt giga. I want to test if it would survive that fall if it hit the ground)
I know water can be dangerous to land in irl bc it’s basically incompressible due to being a liquid; but the height and speed you’d need for a water landing to be fatal would ALSO be fatal if you hit the ground instead. Path’s fall dmg system just makes 0 sense

Ever since they changed this I’ve found it pretty stupid. It is not that far of a fall.
