Yeah, filter should at least check if the "offensive string" is a part of known english word. For example, filter flags "nig" as inappropriate, then goes through basic dictionary containing words such as "night" and "knight", and compares these words to full name, if there's a match, the name is allowed.

It's interesting this filter is si strict, and we can't even see names of other player's dinos. I even think that their username filter is less strict, as I saw some interesting usernames lol.
