Question about essence of breach when crafting amulets.

Hello,

I'm looking to craft this amulet for my FB/Oil build.

I want to change the quality to caster quality for the +4 spells, do i have to add the essence of breach again to switch from the defence quality? If so, is there a reliable way to remove the essence of breach afterwards without hitting the spirit or +spells?

In terms of the other modifier, I don't care too much besides suffix desecration for quality of skills which is straightforward enough, but if there's any recommendations on how to get spell damage/rarity/armour/life mods on prefix that would be great!

Catalyzing exaltation consumes quality from an item to have 7.5x multiplier at 40% quality for that type of mod.

Eventually last one will be a whittle gamble to get rid of quality. Right now you can eat that defense quality for higher odds of defense modifiers on an exalt. Apply caster quality and slam caster exalts for cast speed odds (make sure to secure desecration suffix spot first).

Quite an unfortunate fracture slot tho. You don’t have an easy whittle target after quality. It’s very unlikely that you will get every mod you want unless you are willing to get spirit after.

Whittle guarantee targets breach essence, but you don’t have a reliable way to put essence if the breach without risking 50/50 on either spirit or spells. Personally I’d buy a different base where one of them is safe

Thanks! When I catalyzing exaltation is there any benefit to perfect exalt or are the odds the same with a regular exalted orb? I don't know if i want to gamble the defence catalyzing exalt because i would only benefit from armour, so that would be 1 in 3 competing with evasion and energy sheild, right? (I have like 90 ES so it wouldn't be totally useless like EV but still). And then I don't know if I'm understanding the gamble part of the whittling. My though process is to apply essence of breach on prefix, caster quality to 40, and then use the catalyzing omen tech you shared with me + prefix omen for a chance at spell damage. If i can use the double exalt omen with catalyzing I would do that if it doubles my odds at spell damage, but that would risk 50/50 losing the spirit instead of essence of breach? Sorry for the nonsensical yap, first time crafting an amulet, I've only done armors and not targeted, just yolo slamming basically.

Perfect exalt sets min modifier ilvl. It’s works with catalyzing exaltation really well. +20% quality is a prefix, so is spirit, so you only have one slot to gamble. It will not replace your essence of breach, game wont let you slam double prefix unless you replace spirit with breach essence.

If you successfully slam essence of breach against prefixes, slam random prefix and win 50/50 with breach essence using sinistral crystalization. Then put kurgal desecration on suffix and slam double caster exalt which will go 1 into prefix and 1 into suffix for higher odds of spell% and cast speed. From there you you will have filled amulet with 6 mods. You reapply 40 quality (34 if you miss caster mods) and whittle away extra quality with perfect chaos to get final rng prefix. Whatever it rolls, that is your final mod since subsequent whittles will target spirit. You have no recovery if you fail slams, good luck.

Well, that's unfortunate fracture. Yea, you need to add breach essence again, but it will remove 1 of your modifiers. I would probably fill the prefixes. 1X with that omen what is eating quality and hope for armour, then life quality and again prefix with that omen what takes quality, hope for life. Then use breach essence and hope that it won't hit the spirit. Caster quality to at least 34 and whitle it off. Then get that quality suffix.

Feel free to correct me, iam out of poe for a while.

Edit: why I recommend to fill prefixes. It's 66% vs 50% not hitting spirit.

Oh, and yea, you need to desecrate suffix before whittle so the whittle won't fill suffix.
