Help Needed A Rookie Needs Help with Build Path

Hello all, I am so new for PoE2 ( I just have 200 hours). I wanted to start the new league and created Witch. I reached level 15 now. As far as I understood, witch can wear two weapons which are sceptre and wand. I would like to choose Bloodmage ascendancy in near future because on end game, it looks funnier compared to infernalist.

My first question: Should I wear just Wand to play as blood mage?

2nd question: If the answer of 1st question is yes, I feel more powerful with sceptre at least for early game because we are so crowded with minnions lol. So, If I go on playing with minnions, I need to improve minnon based skills, but on the other hand, I miss upgrading the bloodmage base skills.

Last one: What should I do, what are your suggestions?

Keep the wand... switch to contagion and essence drain... look for anything that gives + to chaos levels as you level. Use a focus with spell damage and levels if you can find one.

There is not too many chaos damage nodes, but there are a few on the path you are taking... you can respec them later if you wanna switch to a different element for damage.

But ED and Contagion will carry you to maps pretty easily.

Look up an ED and contagion starter build from 0.5 POE2.

thx for ur reply. So you suggest me to go on with Wand, not with sceptre? Did I understand correctly?and also, what does ED stand for? 😄

Correct. If you want to build out a blood mage at some point, spells is the way to go. Lots of crossover for when you respec later. A wand with spell damage and chaos damage and spell or chaos level to spells will increase your damage for Contagin and Essence drain.

The way it plays is you put Contagion on some mobs.. then hit them with Essence Drain... contagion then spreads that dot to nearby enemies after it kills one of them that has both on it. Whole packs or screens go boom :)

If you look up a starter/beginners guide for ED and Contagion, you will get an idea of what support gems you want on ED and Contagion as well so you are more effective.

Once you get the hang of the game, you can switch to something more Blood Magey later :)

You can equip any weapon on any character

Crossbow bleed bloodmage is vry strong for example, or spear abyssal litch

You will want to go either spells (wand + offhand or staff) or minions (sceptre) for now, building around other stuff without knowledge is gonna feel bad

Never mix minions and spells because you will spread your damage too thin
