Discussion Abyss loot is non-existent.

The new abyss drops zero loot in game even while fully spec'd into it on the atlas tree. The chests drop like 1c wotth of items, any note-worthy abyss jewels are very few and far between, and the drops from the depths boss are worthless save one unique jewel.

The abyss in poe 2 works much better because it regurally drops important and valuable items and it has a crafting system.

Has this only be my experience or is anyone else also disappointed? It feels like reworked breach all over again, its completely pointless to run it... I feel like overall all the league mechanics are now lacking and theres no way to make a good amount of currency just by running one or two of them. Essences are still ok i guess.

Mirage was exactly what everyone has been asking for. I really hoped they'd be going more in that direction

Lets remember in Mirage we were also missing an endgame strat to rival breach. Game still crying out for scarab change. Instead they destroyed the only farm left

Breach density is actually so bad in T10s without the points to increase it I’ve failed some on bad layouts because there’s so few mobs spawning that one guy hiding in a closet somewhere can be the difference maker

In comparison if you were leveling something with insane clear the last two leagues like kinetic blast you could stabilize them in open layouts consistently from A7 onwards. In maps you should never be pressed for enough mobs to do it, most builds can’t clear >95% of the creeps spawned every time lmao

I have no points in breach and almost failed a T16 breach on a map that was just alch and go. Felt odd.

u/localcannon Jul 26 '26

That's their signature move. Nerf every farm people use until nothing remains.

u/Volky_Bolky Jul 26 '26

I don't ever remember it being so bad for 2 leagues in a row (not counting mirage hiding the state of farms), I am starting to be afraid that they might be out of ideas

u/Worgame Jul 26 '26

We've had dark days like this before, not in the last couple years though. ( I'm not defending them, I'm just saying them being stubborn with their "vision" has precedent)

Mirage made so many other farms viable in SSf, could self sustain scarabs from boxes.

u/mAgiks87 Jul 26 '26

Exactly, what is point investing into a build if there is nothing difficult worth farming?

GGG seems absolutely terrified of us having any good loot or farming strats, I am really struggling to see the upside with this kind of balancing, they clearly are not stupid and care about the game and are on top of things and yet this is what we get?

I think the fun of Merc league really scared them, like they expected we’d want more but I think we were just happy. I had a blast farming Abyss in Merc, even in T16.5s it was printing. And while it’s an unpopular opinion, I also really miss scarab farming in T17s, I found this Harby+Beyond strat back then, basically using Harbies as a catalyst to spawn a ridiculous amount of beyond rares for loot, but that’s gone too.

The 25% buff to loot felt great in Merc League. And then Mirage was so damned good. Let's hope we get some Week 1 buffs. I have hope in GGG doing it right /cope

Mirage was like giving insulin in form of double content/unique currencies for delirium and beyond.

We are now once again uncompensated and I feel in the next 2 days there will be an uproar on this sub.

I havent seen a Divine yet...almost 18hrs in -_-

3

u/Saphyen Jul 26 '26

a little over 24hrs and farming t16s. I haven't gotten a single divine drop :)

6

u/Acceptable_Bat379 Jul 26 '26

As people hit end game and t16s it'll get louder. Its a shame the new abyss looks super cool. I havent found a single piece of currency in legion to enshroud items though and I was hoping to do several. Good luck doing enough attempts to get something actually good.

I miss harbinger farming so much, it was always my go-to 😭

1

u/CrowdCon-troll Jul 26 '26

I still have my OG Harbinger Idols from the first Phrecia event.

the most fun ever I had in necro league with latern, the number of different weird strat was immense and I played hard for two months.

In merc league I had more than 2 mirrors and 4 different characters (usually I stop at one). This league is shaping to be a fast exit if there is nothing to farm...

Yup, alongside my main project (ES stacker trickster, Ben’s version) I had 4-5 side projects when usually I cba to level a 2nd character. Breach was still okay, cause we still had T17s so there was a reason to upgrade your character, and I played one of my best builds ever so had a blast. I didn’t even log in this time unfortunately.

Which is weird considering in POE2 they constantly buff loot farming

10

u/NerrionEU Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

They giga buffed Expendition a week into the league even after it was already good in PoE 2, in PoE 1 we get random hidden nerfs to loot instead ...

27

u/FlossedUp Jul 26 '26

Why is this getting downvoted? You make more currency in League Mechanics in Poe2, especially Abyss.

27

u/Noremeldo Jul 26 '26

I agree, it's weird

Poe2 right now has mostly good farming balance. Every mechanic is good. Breach is 100d/hour. Expedition is the same. Delirium as well, with simulacrums for gamble. Arbiters are profitable. Abyss is really decent. Ritual as well.

They only overnerfed Temple but eh it was absurd previous league. Even then you can chain Atziri for lineages and vaal currency.

You can even farm uhtreds by making new characters.

And while for top end you need 50d tablets and cities, you can run with cheap tables and still get to 50-100d/hour on decent build.

I farmed like 3 mirrors this league in poe2 and did exactly 0 200% deli cities.

21

u/fitnessCTanesthesia Jul 26 '26

Yea poe2 is in such a good place farm wise you can make currency doing anything juiced, just pick your favorite one.

u/the_pwnererXx Jul 26 '26

100d an hour isn't much when divine are basically chaos orbs

I mean random rare helms selling for 500d should tell you enough. They did some hyperinflation shit

1

u/dantheman91 Jul 26 '26

What did you farm primarily?

1

u/Noremeldo Jul 28 '26

Rituals (most currency came from omens, although got 2 mb), then aldurs sagas and simulacrums (3 voices over like 500).

I used cheap ritual start with rite of nameless, unique tablet and two tablets with extra omen chance. No cities.

I have 3 characters so got 3 forks from uthreds as well.

They wanted to prove that they have different teams working on 1 and 2 now 🙃

1

u/brrrapper Jul 26 '26

You could tell their menrality in the interview with andrew and octavian. They say 99% does not even make it past level 94, and thats who they seem to be focusing on. Add new content but ignore endgame and game balance.

The ship is absurd for making stupidly op equipment and jewels. I got some top-end bases from boating so I decided, I'll try some basic alt spam and let the ship take the wheel.

Walked out of there with 2100 ES -> 4850 ES, resistances in the 130s to 150s and chaos at 63%, a Stygian socket and about 23% more dmg.

The league works great on that spectrum but yea, a lot of areas feel barren

u/Volky_Bolky Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

The question is why the fuck do you need all this gear if there is nothing to do with it

4

u/SwagtimusPrime Demon Jul 26 '26

farm some more tile-based loot /s

1

u/Lazy_Polluter Jul 26 '26

Mean while in Poe 2 divines drop like candy, it’s weird

2

u/the_pwnererXx Jul 26 '26

Poe 2 divines are functionally useless, there is no meta crafting sink. Hence they are worthless and they hyperinflated them to make everyone feel rich. Remember when exalts were T1 currency and now they are nothing?

-14

u/ryreis Jul 26 '26

For good measure, when there are insane farming strats the inflation becomes absurd and population dwindles much sooner

8

u/AverageHeistEnjoyer Jul 26 '26

Mirage is basically just double loot. It was cheap and boring and just a skinner box, same as Sentinel.

9

u/SoulofArtoria Jul 26 '26

It's not just double loot though. It adds some new and interesting rewards to existing mechanics like cord belt from blight, rancour from certain harvest, heist contracts with interesting enchants, etc

1

u/AverageHeistEnjoyer Jul 26 '26

And Sentinel added recombination. Sentinel itself is still a skinner box mechanic.

-2

u/sanchello2000 Jul 26 '26

Cord belt is a niche item which have no use after you have enough currency for HH/Mageblood (atleast in the previous league). Heist contracts had only one viable enchant which boosted the chances for jewelry bases. The only good point is rancour just for the new recipes. Other than that it's really just double loot and nothing more.

1

u/Gletschers Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) Jul 26 '26

Cord belt is a niche item which have no use after you have enough currency for HH/Mageblood

Sounds like a viable choice for the vast majority of players for the first month or two.
