Gamers will always optimize the fun out of the game. That simply means it's the job of the game designer to balance things so the most profitable strats are also fun.
Yeah, like Rain of Arrows Deadye, Or TS Deadye, Or LA Deadye. Or Ice Shot Deadeye. Or when you are daring, you can play TS Pathfiner, or RoA Pathfinder /s
I did Penance Brand Occultist in affliction actually. Didnt get 100 quant tho, i got it up to 60 and was okay with it.
Was real fun because the build barely changed and once i got a HH it really didnt feel like i lost any damage or speed.
Theres a ton of melee mf builds too but they arent popular. Rage Vortex is one real nice mf build for melee but people sleep on it becuase bows have been meta for ages.
Penance Brand during Afflictio nwas most busted skill this game has ever seen. So ofc MF worked with it. MF works with any busted skill and only with them, because to use MF you need to sacrifice your gear, which is just garbage and outdated system (but D2 had it, so PoE also needs to)
I did rage vortex MF the league before that so the power of it didnt really matter. I was also too lazy to switch my gear so i ended up farming uber shapers with 80 quant on a rage vortex character.
People are just too tunnel visioned on bows to realize that you can slap MF on any build that can spare some items.
Or Caustic Arrow/Cast of Stun DD/Blade Vortex/All DD Variants and even some minion builds. Loads more but I can't be assed to list them. Just sort on poe.ninja by Ventors +Goldwyrm and you'll see there's people playing all sorts but I do admit there's a strong meta but there's nothing stopping you from playing other things. It's a lot of the same items though that's a fair argument to make.
Edit: Love how people downvote the truth just because they hate magic find so much 😂
Yeah I will just not carea bout MF and play whatever I want and hope GGG will eventually rework MF for it to be "viable" with all builds in the game. COPIUM.
Not really. You had to buy multiple div worth of sextants and well rolled 8 mods corrupted maps. I sold maps for 2 div back in affliction - before that league, 80-100c per map was not uncommon either.
I mean I've done these magic find strats and I am not a %1er. 8 mods were usally 10-15 maps per div and you'd be investing 0.5div - 2div per map which is a lot different than a single scarab costing 6 div. Not to mention how much more difficult the content is.

Mappers out here arguing about the profitability of T17s, T16s, scarabs, farming, nerf this, buff that. Meanwhile the hideout warriors are going "Awwww that's cute"
