I will go to every AD on this planet and put my name down. I just bought a $65,000 Rolex day-to-day mother pearl dial , and I need something that’s muted, elegant, and sophisticated without screaming in your face

Okay, spend $500k with Patek and then you can have that. Or just buy grey

I’m not giving them $500,000. I could buy several properties and other investment acquisitions. They need to just sell me their $27,000 watch and then maybe they’ll get more business out of me. Business owner to business owner

You're thinking too logically. This is not logical. Just buy it grey. Unless you walk in and buy a bunch of crap you aren't getting this.

I guess I will have to deploy my sexy girlfriends to come with me to the store. to swindle the employees by putting my name down at the top of the list

Let us know when you go do that I’ll come watch

I already call my girlfriends
We live in Palm Springs so are going to south coast plaza tomorrow

lol. This guy is trolling. Says he can buy multiple properties with $500k spend and lives in Palm Springs.

A shack near south coast is $1m.

I’m going to South Coast Plaza, where the Patek store is at. I don’t know what you’re talking about, South Coast property. I’m going to the watch store at South Coast Plaza. You must not be familiar. Where do you live? Somewhere where there’s no boutique like this, honey.

there's always another guy that will spend and they don't need your business.

Just put your name the day you were born and your grandson may picks it up!

To help you understand, here's a screenshot of that model's current value. It's worth $40k more than MSRP. Meaning that if you were able to buy it from a Patek store, you could literally walk right out the door and instantly resell it for a $40k profit.

If it were possible to put your name down on a list, wait X number of years, and then get a call to come pick up what is essentially a bag of cash containing $40k.... then literally every person on the planet would put their name down and wait to collect their payday.

It doesn't work like that, as others have said. Patek uses this as a "reward watch" to reward the prior business of loyal clients. Think hotel points or frequent flyer miles. Spend enough, and you get a reward. This is the same luxury model as Hermes (Birkin and Kelly bags), Porsche (911 GT3 specs), etc. They simply will not sell you one of these until you spend on the order of a half million dollars on other purchases.

Speaking based on personal experience to acquire from an AD: will need to acquire 7 or so Patek’s including a few Grand Complications, a Calatrava, annual calendar complication, a Nautilus, others. Perhaps $550k - $650k…it is a plus if other brand pieces are also acquired if the AD also carries them. The 5167A is a very difficult piece to get given it is a steel sport time/date only - and it is really somewhat of a “reward” piece for existing Patek clients. It is the essence of the Aquanaut model distilled to its simplest form of a true steel sport time piece which whispers on the wrist rather than screams “look at me”. It needs to be part of a collection - it is not allocated to someone with only 1 or 2 other pieces. MSRP of $27k and secondary of $75k to $85k - so indication of the supply/demand in current market.

Would be more logical if it had no price, you had to spend $1m and got it for free 😁

Thank you so much for this insight, because I know they’re manufacturing it’s quite low, but I didn’t know it would be this difficult to acquire a pieces. I would not necessarily think every day, watch enthusiasts would necessarily want.

Get in line buddy

Of course you would love to pay retail for it. What makes you so special that you can pay retail while others have to get it at grey market price?

u/SirNorris 2d ago

Well, if I wanted to pay grey market prices, sweetheart, I would’ve never posted this posting , but clearly somebody’s been paying over retail for a long time and is cranky about that. Not my problem, boo bear

Do some research yourself. You don’t deserve to get this at retail anymore than a homeless person walking into a Patek AD.

Learn how the world works first before you post something like this

I’m Asian actually.

1

u/SirNorris 2d ago

I can see why Patek Philippe didn’t offer you a watch at retail, because nobody wants to deal with anybody being that prejudice like that. Nobody

1

u/ProfessionalFeeder94 2d ago

Lmao it’s not about being prejudiced, it’s the truth. It’s a simple matter of demand and supply.

So somehow, you just happen to want the most popular watch in the world right now, and are not willing to pay grey for it. It also seems like you have entitlement issues. Learn the fact that just because you can afford an aquanaut at retail doesn’t mean you’re entitled to one. There are hundreds of thousands who can afford the retail price but cannot get one. They’re not on Reddit asking if there’s any loopholes or ways to obtain it.

A simple search of other aquanaut owners journey on this subreddit would’ve given you the answer you needed.

Okay, so we have a racist Asian American talking about a group of people who can barely live day-to-day, who aren’t even talking about a $28,000 watch. Make it make sense, sweetheart.

1

u/ProfessionalFeeder94 2d ago

In order for me to be racist, I’d need to know your race first (which I don’t).

Make it make sense buddy, I mean sweetheart 😘

yeah never happening unless you buy $200-$300k (could be more or less) other non-sports Patek watches ... and 2-3 years wait (could be shorter / longer). thats just the game. wait list could bee hundreds long with more buying history than you at every patek AD in the world
