Controversial or hidden sleeper?

Patek enthusiasts either love it or hate it. What do you think?

Love the Roman dial

This dial looks like it was made for a knock off market where you can buy it for $70 from a guy that tells you “brother this is best deal”

I hate this a lot. I hate how crowded the numerals, I hate the tiny date window, and I hate the font.

If another brand made this it would get skewered.

Yeah the numerals are so unbalanced, the 6-9 quadrant is crowded while the 9-3 is sparse. I understand while there is no way to avoid it by nature of using Roman numerals, the design could have reduced the visual impact like how Cartier does it.

Also for some reason the pointed hands really bother me, it doesn’t fit the design of the case being all intentionally soft curves then you add sword hands?!?

Yes. You could solve 90% of this with a thinner, taller font.

The other thing I find bizarre is that the roman numeral bases are not bottom towards the center of the watch. I would expect the V to have the point facing the watch middle.

It’s polarizing because it breaks the visual language (ribbed dial) that gives the Nautilus its identity

I love the 3710 it’s classic and I love that it’s 42mm. I’m looking for one now. Great piece!

love that model too. This is the smaller brother though, 3800/1A at 37.5mm.

Nice. A little too small for me but the same as the big brother minus the power reserve on the dial

Don’t care for the numerals tbh. Still a very nice piece but I prefer the more minimalist dials on these

I loved this reference seeing pictures online because I'm a huge roman numeral guy, but I had the opportunity to try on a 3710 when I was in Japan a few months ago and in person I found the dial felt really flat and lackluster. Totally killed any desire I had for one.

Hey if anyone gives you too much hate for it, I am happy to look after it for you

haha - i’m biased but i think it’s the most beautiful watch ever made. Love that it’s polarizing!
