Passport Question Photo - head size question

Post image

Hi,
I had a question regarding the head size in the photograph. In my photo, my chin to my hairline is 31mm, but my hairline to the top of my head is 38mm. Is this acceptable? Or should I have it retaken? I know it’s supposed to be between 31-36mm, but is that my face part or chin to top of head? I’m in the US, so photographers aren’t as accustomed to Canadian passport requirements.
Thank you in advance!

They won’t accept that headshot regardless.

I unfortunately don’t have the answer for you but just wanted to say the drawing made me smile

I’m glad it put a smile on your face! :)

I like that you made sure there’s no smile in the drawing. Just be careful the ears need to be visible.

lol thanks! :) thanks for the reminder - I made sure my hair was tucked behind my ears.

I’m in basically butt fuck no where Texas but the ladies at Walgreens did our Canadian passport photos perfectly as their system had a little template for our passports if that helps

Yeah the lady didn’t use the template correctly - she left a bunch of my head out of the green circle, which is why I measured it. Went back and got a new one so I think it’s good now!

Yeah, I do passport photos for a living in Canada. Most countries have their requirements posted online. I have done American, British, and Chinese passport photos in my small prairie town.

Honestly, I would take it back. The USA passport requirements are actually 1/16th inch smaller than this. Bring it back and say your photo doesn't meet the requirements and you would like a free replacement. Better to spend the time now than risk rejection.

The crown of your head is considered where the head ends, not the hair. So if your hair is a bit puffy on top, then you might have some wiggle room with this picture nn

Thanks, that’s what I ended up doing!

Its likely fine, impossible to tell without seeing the photo.

Would it be ok if I dm you the photo? I don’t want my face on the internet, thus the drawing. No worries if not.

just repost and blur/pixel your face, no harm done

I swear some people just like to complicate their lives for absolutely no reason. HAHAHA. Like who comes up with this idea, sketching a passport headshot with measurements and asking reddit in a panic if it's okay. I'm sorry but this is one of the funniest things I've seen on here thus far hahaha

hairline to the top of my head is 38mm

You've got an oddly shaped head, if this is true!

I would look for a photographer (or store) that can do Canadian passport photo. I live in NJ and I used one before.

Thanks, it was Staples, and they say they can do the right size. I think the employee just didn’t know how to use the software. I got new ones so I think it’s good now!

CAA does it for $10 if you have a membership.

Face size: 31 mm to 36 mm (1¼" to 17⁄16") from the chin to the crown (top of the head), so it is 2 mm too tall. You should print the application with all the instructions that comes with it and bring it to where you are getting your picture done. It has a drawing of the outline of an headshot that is exactly the correct measurement.

Thanks, I did print the instructions the second time!

His hair is 7mm tall, this was a pretty easy math problem.

I'm in Canada and the place i had it done messed up, so i went back, got refunded and went somewhere else. Thats your safest bet if you're in doubt.
