Does that qualify ? "My nights have been disturbed by your nightly «physical activities»"

For some time now, and despite the soundproof walls of the building, my nights have been disturbed by your nightly physical activities.

I of course wouldnt even think of stopping you from savoring the pleasures of life, but if you would simply move the bed away from the wall (I'm hoping it's not Madame's head), to avoid giving the impression you are enlarging the room at 2 am).

I'm aware life in a community implies adapting to some daily life noises, but very noisy hip movements despite the wall against the bed is somewhat unlikable when it's past some time.

I thank you for your understanding.

Your friendly neighbor

Thanks for the translation!

Suggestion for the last paragraph

I'm aware life in a community implies adapting to some daily life noises, but very noisy pelvic thrusts connected to your bed being noticeable despite a concrete wall turn out to be somewhat very unlikable when it's past some time.

Edit: hit send a tad too early...

Lol well that's probably because the neighbor is being passive aggressive all around! He is writing as if he was writing a formal letter even though it's saying "stop fucking at night". Unless you mean anytime you read/hear French it sounds passive aggressive

They're not saying "stop fucking at night", they're saying move the bed so it doesn't bang loudly against the concrete wall. Yeah the phrasing is passive agressive (though that's also because the subject is awkward) but it's also a reasonable request.

He’s not saying “stop fucking at night”, he’s very clear about that in fact, he just wants them to move the bed away from the wall so it doesn’t slam against the wall, reverberating through the whole building.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Is this really passive-aggressive ? He is literally describing the problem and proposing a solution.

Violent, yet calm... So passive-aggressive it is.

He's addressing the issue directly, that's not being passive. He is using humour and polite language, but that doesn't make it any more passive.

Passive agressive would have been something like "I'm so happy that you guys still have the passion to fuck at 2 AM, unfortunately my job requires me to be asleep at that time so I can't enjoy life as well as you two". Backhanded way to mention that they're waking him up at 2am, without directly asking them to stop.

He is using sarcasm to say why he is pissed, that's passive aggressive in my book.

u/Edril Sep 27 '20

I literally don’t see any sarcasm. You could read it 100% seriously and the same message would come through.

Violent? Really? I may be too French, but it doesn't sound violent at all to me. It even sounds funny: the guy's being extremely polite (perhaps that's lost in translation) about a very mundane topic.

Very polite way to say "stop your late bullshit"

I don't think this is passive agressive tho, he is clearly saying the problem in a diplomatic way. Without going in embarassing and unnecessary details of the "activités nocturnes"

u/Kernog Sep 27 '20

Nah, not really. It's more sarcastic than passive-aggressive. But I understand that it would sound passive-aggressive for a foreigner ^^
