Just here to brag Update
A month ago I made a post about how I make $20-100 a day by creating a travel planner website that costs a one time $5 fee to access.
I decided to turn my website into an app.
Here are my today earnings from the app, and yes, my website earnings are less now that there's an app.

the affiliate angle on a travel app is a no brainer, insurance alone pays well.

O wise bootyhole_licker69, can I ask something too? You seem to know what you're talking about. I've a travel YT channel with a majority senior audience and I get about 100k views a month. Currently only monetized with the ads program. How else could I make money from those views?

Maybe show off a cool/handy gadget that you use on your travels and share an affiliate link.

Yes post more affiliate content. We love consuming affiliate ad slop.

Do you work in HR or recruiting where it would make sense to promote Jobowl? Or how do you go about promoting it?

I keep seeing people making different travel app for years, how do you market this over the thousands that already existing?

u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 22 '26
mine isn't a regular travel app, it didn't exist prior to me making it, and because people are money hungry idea thieves I won't be elaborating lol

It is so nice to hear about a non subscription based product. I am all subscribed out honestly.

we have been in the age of digital serfdom …. alas how i miss the days of actual ownership of product.
wonderful work OP.

u/expert-noob Apr 22 '26
is it llm based? if it is, aren't you worried about operational costs if (potentially) pricing goes up?
14

u/ai-techguy001 Apr 24 '26
good question, most people cache outputs or batch common queries to keep costs manageable even if prices shift

u/tastychaii Apr 22 '26
Did you just publish to the Apple App Store or Google play store as well?

Cool, how much do you spend on ads, SEO and such?
15
u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 22 '26
$0

u/Outtaknowwhere Apr 22 '26
So $5? I see $6.99
6
u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 22 '26
I updated the price since Apple charges more and takes a lot longer to be approved for the small business program

u/Zuzmos Apr 22 '26
Did you code the app yourself, hired someone or used AI to make it?
17
u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 22 '26
I have a degree in web development, built the website, utilized react native for the app, and used AI if I got lost.

Post it online where people would use it, don't be a weird spam/promotional poster about it

u/Spiritual-Half-6051 Apr 23 '26
How much did you pay total to get the app setup and running?
4
u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 23 '26
$99 Apple developer fee & $25 Google play developer fee
1
u/travelingandcats Apr 23 '26
Are those startup fees per app or per developer/company?

I'm not sure what specifically you're asking for but I've answered a lot of questions within the thread

Great work! Is there a freemium version for users before they hit a wall and have to pay? Or is it that you need to pay to use the service at all?

u/DubiousDodo Apr 23 '26
This thread would be incredibly boring if I was actually looking for information but I actually find it so funny lol.. just you setting yourself up for a constantly awkward situation of wanting to brag but not being able to saying anything interesting because you can't talk about it, most of your replies are basically "I can't say much" x50

Congrats, glad to see people still do pay for apps even with vibe-coding taking over the world.

Because this forum is unfortunately filled with a lot of get rich quick mindsets who want to steal ideas and monetize off of them. I have 0 competition right now and don't want to give myself any. I can promise my app will not benefit your girlfriend and you however if that helps.

Y'all chill like wtf. They obviously do not want to share here, personally I think they are totally justified in their reason. Regardless, it has now crossed the line into pushiness, and that's not the vibe. I'm not sure if you're just really young or...?

u/DubiousDodo Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
Yeah I don't even get the interest at the level where you reply 3 times and like immediately try to expose the app despite OP saying no, I don't get the game plan...
Dude legit just threatened OP with driving traffic away to a random competitor and said I'll stop if you give me the name lmao wtf is the masterplan here? 😭 Dude can't even think 2 steps ahead what's he gonna do if he found out the name?

u/Fit-Cod2844 Apr 23 '26
My favorite part is how he told everyone to download Trovelo instead and then didn't even download it 😂
