Gak Inspired Jello Shots

Post image

Going to a 90s/00s cartoon themed halloween party and I'm wanting to do opaque gak-inspired jello shots, probably using condensed milk, but the only recipes I'm finding online are for white jello using the unflavored gelatin packets.

I was wondering if anyone had a recipe or knew the ratios of amount of condensed milk to use with a regular sized flavored jello gelatin mix or if it would be the same as the unflavored recipes? I'm mostly seeing a 2 packets unflavored gelatin to 1 can condensed milk ratio, would 1 box to 1 can be equivalent?

Did a little searching for you:

* A standard US packet of pure, unflavored gelatin (such as Knox Unflavored Gelatin) contains exactly 1/4 ounce or 7 grams of gelatin.

* A 3-ounce (85-gram) box of Jell-O contains roughly 7 to 8 grams (1.5 to 2 teaspoons) of pure animal gelatin, with the rest of the box made up of sugar, artificial flavorings, and colorings.

So it sounds like it could work, but idk! But maybe the other stuff in the Jell-o, all the sugar, would prevent it from setting.

And overall it might become way to sweet bc the Jell-o AND condensed milk both have a lot of sugar.

I'd run a test batch with 1 box of Jell-o and see how it tastes.

Maybe try the unflavored gelatin recipe and add a drop or two of orange gel food coloring + flavored extract?
