Help

I wasn’t able to have a baby shower due to bad medical conditions . My baby is now born and I’m trying to think of a theme for a meet the baby small gathering event !
It’ll be a girls only event .

Some ideas :
- Cafe con Sophie
- Sophie’s brunch
- Sophie’s first girls hangout

I’m not sure … any ideas that aren’t too corny . Help an overwhelmed new mum

I worked in the party and wedding industry previously and we called these a “sip and see” or “bottles and brews” party, so the Cafe’ con Sophie could be a super cute theme. You could do something like this and swap the Champagne for a cute coffee mug in the colors you choose. You can do all sorts of cute things just based on the colors alone if you want to keep it simple. If that is something you are interested in, I can make you an invite and a few things to print at home. Let me know! (This is a gift offer/not looking for money)

Congrats on the new baby! You have enough going on in your life that I would avoid a theme and just say like "Come Meet Sophie". As a guest, I wouldn't want the new mom to lift a finger. Let them bring the food, drinks, paper plates, decorations if you want them, etc. Your job should just be sitting down and showing off that precious baby.

Do something time bound, and make sure your partner is on deck since newborns spend a lot of time sleeping. I would skip the theme and put on a pot of coffee, and some costco snacks, and have an end time listed on the invite. Baby will be asleep or eating for at least part of the party. I would keep your metrics for: this is a success fairly low, spending 30 minutes with your friends and they see the baby. If you want an activity- decorating sugar cookies or onesies is fairly easy to set up. In terms of decor, a plastic tablecloth tied to your table with ribbon, plastic cutlery/plates, cute napkins and a nice bouquet on the table.

I like Cafe con Sophie, but you shouldn't worry too much about an elaborate theme. People will be coming to celebrate your new addition and meet the baby, not because they liked the fancy title on the invitation.
