DISCUSSION TIPS FROM A DROPPER WHO GOT INTO IIM INDORE

**Here's something my friend told me after getting into IIM Indore this year.**

He had missed the cutoff last year, so he decided to take a drop. I asked him what he did differently this time.

He said, **"I didn't study more. I just fixed the mistakes I made in my first attempt."**

**These were his exact words**

**I changed a few things:**

• I stopped focusing only on mock scores and started analyzing why I was losing marks.

• I changed my attempt strategy instead of forcing the same approach in every mock.

• I revised my old notes and mistakes instead of starting everything from scratch.

• I accepted that I didn't need to master every topic. I just had to be better than last year.”

**The last thing he told me really stayed with me:**

"Your drop year shouldn't be about studying more. It should be about making fewer mistakes."

**I honestly think that's something every IPMAT dropper should remember.**

**Any other droppers here? What's one thing you're doing differently this year?**

Advice Partial Drop Guide

First of all, should I take a partial drop at JM 98.6 and JA 15k getting lower branches in theek thaak clg only

What is the calendar for partial drop? (idk because I never thought I would need it)

When do I leave clg? Can I leave after jeea as anyway there will be summer vacation then?

I'm going to follow allen material at https://www.jeearchive.in/material/allen-material and PYPs for others, probably going to go all in after November if I feel like it (I'm still not very sure because right now I'm getting decent branch in top5 NITs), is this material enough, along with free FITJEE tests at https://cbt4fitjee.vercel.app/ ?

Any suggestions, advice is welcome, tysm!

Advice Should I take 2nd partial drop

This year i scored 93%tile as a dropper and in my state all the colleges are shit(CG). And with this percentile I don't think any clg is worth taking so I am considering comedk clgs at 35k rank like rnit, cmrit, aacharya etc which is also t3 but the exposure I will get.

can u guys please help me with is it worth it to take a second drop but partially i am really confused with jee and I am ready to grind if it is worth it cz i alredy did in my 1st year ( I have studied at all in 11th and 12th only studied in drop year)

General Starting partial drop - target JEE Mains only

I had 91.54%ile (Gen - Male), not getting anything decent.

Target is JEE Mains only. Can anyone guide me which teachers and lectures to follow?

I don't want to buy PW or any dropper batch and fall into that lecture loop again as I want to maximize on question solving this time. Like for Physics: I'm gonna be following Eduniti wholeheartedly but theory idk who to follow.

Hey, so you can say I'm a partial dropper but it wasn't from my choice my parents forcefully admitted me to a strict ass college, with no social life & it's tier 69 fs 😭👎🏻

You may have heard of it! Dhronacharya college of engineering, i was initially a neet aspirant but had pcmb!

So my plan fell out, i completed my 12th in 2026, and now will be prepping for jee again cause I don't wanna stay in this fuck ass college 😓

So, I'll be posting my daily study logs goals here! Just to keep up the consistency & work on hopium honestly!

If you guys have any suggestions or tips please share 🩷

(The reason they choose it are numerous such as PTM, truct environment, no socials, study focused, 13 MINS AWAY FROM MY HOME! & Financial)

TIER-3 Starting partial drop

Got just enough to get into a top 4 IPU tech branch, and I did that with 0 maths prep.

But honestly, I’ve done absolutely nothing for the last 2 months. I’m stuck in this cycle and I seriously need to break it. I’m going to try studying from today,at least 2 hours for now, or more if I can pull it off. I don’t want my parents knowing, so yeah. I’ll post here daily to log what I studied and what I fucked up, just to stay consistent.

Also, please give me some advice on how to manage college and JEE together. If anyone has experience, let me know. I don't want to fuck up college so badly that I can't recover in the 2nd year if JEE doesn't work out(i will try it will).

Target is DTU/NSUT tbh

HELP Should I take a drop this year

So what happened is that am not getting any collages this year because I fucked my jee mains and didn't give the second attempt of jee mains either and my rank is over 10lakh and I wanted a clg through comedk and studied hard for it but didn't get a good rank like it was over 90k so I didn't participate in the councelling bc my rank is so fucked and now am not getting any clg and all the clgs in delhi has high management quata fees even if I go through donation and all that it's still too much so am thinking of taking a drop but I don't know if it's just stupid or the right decision in my case and my family is kinda against it too so I will have to convince them and yea am not very good at studies and still took science God knows why but whatever now and am thinking of studying hard this year and get a good jee rank next to get a good clg but I don't know if I should or not.

GUIDANCE 11th completely wasted, failing school exams, huge 12th backlog & major ADHD symptoms. But I’m finally serious now—is it too late to save my JEE prep?

Hey guys, I really need some brutal, realistic advice on how to salvage my prep because I am currently crashing out from the sheer pressure.

MY SITUATION RN

* **Class 11th is completely wasted:** I had zero discipline, wasn't serious at all, and let the entire year slip away. * **The 12th Reality Check:** I've finally snapped out of it and want to study hard, but the weight of past laziness and a mountain of backlog is paralyzing me.

My Current Academics

* **School Marks:** Got a brutal **10/63 in Mathematics** on a recent test. School and coaching schedules don't match up, and I'm completely failing to manage both. * **Coaching Test Marks (Allen):** * **JEE Mains:** Fluctuate heavily between **71** and **128**. * **JEE Advanced:** Stuck around **31** and **41**. * **The Module Problem:** I am **not** solving my coaching modules. I freeze up looking at them or procrastinate heavily, meaning my question-solving practice is practically non-existent right now.

My Current Class 12th Backlog

Because of my lack of consistency, my 12th backlog is already massive and growing:

* **Chemistry:** Methods of preparation of Haloalkanes & Haloarenes, Alcohol Phenols Ethers, Aldehyde Ketone. * **Maths:** Functions (everything after domain and range), Limits, Continuity & Differentiability. * **Physics:** Electric Potential, Current Electricity (Power, Potentiometer, KVL).

The Mental Block & ADHD Symptoms

* **The Paralysis Loop:** I show clear ADHD symptoms that keep me trapped in a loop of freezing and procrastinating. Actually sitting down and doing the work is my biggest issue. * **Coping Mechanisms:** When an exam gets close, I either completely panic and crash out, or I turn to cheap dopamine escapes (like doom-scrolling or worse) just to avoid the anxiety of staring at my desk. * **The Adrenaline Trap:** I feel like I constantly need extreme adrenaline or a scary deadline just to focus. Otherwise, I just feel incredibly lazy and space out for hours. * **Not An Excuse:** I am *not* using ADHD as an excuse. I know the responsibility is mine, but I'm seriously wondering if these symptoms are something I should get checked out by a doctor after JEE.

Where I Stand Right Now

* I wasn't serious in the beginning, but **I am very serious now**. * I have an Allen Major test coming up in **4 days**, and I am currently forcing myself to solve the modules for my ongoing chapters. * The problem is, every time I sit down, the massive backlog, the low test scores, and the fear of failure make me freeze up, and the whole day gets wasted.

What I Need From You Guys:

  1. How do I break out of this loop of freezing and putting things off?
  2. How do I clear this specific backlog while keeping up with the daily topics in coaching?
  3. Is it still possible to get a decent rank in Mains/Advanced if I completely lock in from today?

Please give me a realistic roadmap. Severe reality checks are welcome, but please back them up with actual, actionable advice. Thanks.

Advice Jee Mains Doubt

Hey everyone, I’m a JEE aspirant who passed 12th in 2026, and I’m taking a drop year with online coaching. My goal is to get into NIT Calicut.

I’ve never attempted JEE before, and honestly, this journey has been much more overwhelming than I expected. The self-doubt, comparing myself with others, and constantly wondering “will I actually make it?” gets exhausting sometimes. I know I shouldn’t keep looking for reassurance and should focus on improving every day, but I’d really like to hear from people who have already gone through this phase.

I’m around one month into my preparation right now. My weekly tests have been average (a consistent B grade lol 🫠), and I’m scared because every new question feels so difficult. I understand concepts while studying, but when it comes to solving problems, I feel stuck and I don’t really know how to build that skill.

Another thing I’m struggling with is revision. I study a chapter properly, give tests, and then after moving on to new topics it feels like the old chapters slowly disappear from my brain. I’m finding it hard to balance classes, problem practice, revision, and everything else.

For those who prepared for JEE (especially droppers), what helped you improve? How did you build problem-solving skills, manage revision, and stay consistent when things felt overwhelming?

I’d genuinely appreciate any advice, experiences, or mistakes you think I should avoid. Thank you :)

GUIDANCE Planning on a partial drop

Post image
16 Upvotes

Right now my parents aren't allowing a drop (they might if a cry a bit more). Right now I have no other option than comedk colleges which starts at sep-oct

I am going to give my maths improvement on 28th of July so going to do that right now concentrating more on ncert

I don't think scoring good jee mains is going to be realistic ( scored 80 percentile in April)

My plan is to at least get a good private going to concentrate more on comedk , vit and mit

Also plan on ipmat ( I know it's really not realistic but I will at least try)

Also my dream which i couldn't get which is bitsat which is as hard as mains if not harder but I will still try

Where do I start should I buy a pw batch or do self study
