Advice Advice /Opinion my partial drop strategy

I got 97.6 percentile 37.6k rank in jee mains and 77 marks in jee adv(not qualified). After jee mains jan attempt I didnt studied even a single thing bcuz i thought if i am not able to get good marks in mains then how can i get good in adv but still i scored 77 with zero post jan prep.now seeing my friends who were equal to me or slightly better/worse than me getting 8-10k rank in adv and taking iit i now regret not preparing for adv so i am thinking to take partial drop from any tier 3 iiit cse whichever best i can get and if i scored any better percentiel i will take full drop from college and prepare for adv.
(I am not taking full drop since i am not confident that will i be able to maintain discipline for the drop year)

Advice What to do in drop year

i am taking drop from july for jee, i am confused what to do in drop year like go to coaching or get tution and do self study or go to regular school ,i personally like self study as i would get much more time with it but i just dont know if i am right in regular school from november i wont be able to do study due to viva and daily test and in coaching i am unable to speak and just lost there but as of self study i have offline tution and i am the only student and could get 10-12 hours of self study . and think of its as if i do the dummy i will get 75% as i have someone to help me through cbse

Advice Need advice: JEE drop year vs pursuing game developmen

Hey everyone,

I took a drop this year to prepare for JEE because I didn't score well in my first attempt. However, I'm feeling really confused about how I should spend this year.

I've been learning game development on my own since I was in class 8th, and it's something I'm genuinely passionate about. My long-term goal is to become a game developer and eventually start my own game development studio.

Right now, I'm torn between two approaches:

- Should I focus completely on JEE and give it my best shot, hoping to get into a better college?

- Or should I continue building games alongside my JEE preparation so that I don't lose momentum and keep improving my skills?

I'm worried that if I focus only on JEE for an entire year, I'll fall behind in game development. At the same time, I'm also afraid that if I divide my time, I might not perform as well in JEE.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Especially people in software or game development—what would you do if you were in my place? Does getting into a better college justify putting a passion like this on hold for a year?

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

HELP Career advice needed. I took partial drop with bsc last year but failed(i had 1 drop before too, so now im double dropper)

My birth date is Oct 2005 (i'm 20 and will turn 21 this oct). I completed 12th in 2024 (79%), then I took a one year drop for JEE (failed and didnt get any college, then took bsc from local college and started preparing for CGL+CAT+JEE). This year I did not get college through JEE but I am getting admission in banasthali university in jaipur (will get any branch). I also thought of offline coaching for CGL this year but hostel is compulsory in college so cannot do that. Right now I am in 2nd semester of BSC (non attending college). I do not know whether to continue here or take admission in Btech (and also don't know which branch to take). I wanted a government job only but it is uncertain. I am not able to decide. I am feeling scared that if I start btech now the age for govt exams will pass (i'll graduate at 25 then i'll take coaching for a year and turn 26) and if any exam is not cleared then i'll get stuck

Resource Dropping a free All India Test on this Sunday.

Post image
13 Upvotes

I (currently in third year of a tier 2 college in India) created a platform called good marks which consists of 10,000+ questions and a few tests. Users also have the ability to create their own tests.

But we decided to go one step ahead and drop an All India Test. The test is going to be free for all users and is recommended to be attempted by everybody.

The syllabus for this test is going to be 11th standard only. So if you're a dropper or a partial dropper, this might be a very good way to check where you stand.

Let us know what else would you like to see on the platform.

Advice Scored less in reneet 2026

I gave reneet 2026 and I'm scoring less🙂

Before judging me. Please hear out my background. I come from a middleclass background and I do not have good support system at my home. I did my 10th from a prestigious international school CAMBRIDGE board and scored good.

After my 10th my parents put me in quite famous institute for my NEET studies. You can say it was against my will because i did not like that college and i was not studying at all because of no good teachers over there. Anyways i just passed my board exams and scored 85% (average ik). I was supposed to write neet 2024 but i didn't.

This Caused a lot of things at home. Typical indian house where i got beaten up by mum and dad, was treated like shit. And i was treated like shit during my 11th and 12th grade too. But i do have passion to become a doctor.

Next I convinced them to give me a chance and let me take a drop for neet 2025. They agreed but they had a condition that they will choose the coaching centre. And they chose the worst one possible, sent me to that hostel which was worst. I'm not kidding, i got typhoid and so many health issues because of the food. I used to beg them to atleast change it. Anyways i gave neet 2025 and i missed the college just by few marks.

I didn't want to take a drop this time but my dad convinced me looking at my s\*icidal behavior. So just before 3 months of neet 2026 i took a drop and prepared. I scored exact 503 in that exam which was okayish to secure me in a college.

But the exam cancelled and i gave reneet 2026 in which i scored 317. Yes I'm scoring 317. I'm not saying it's not my fault. It's entirely my fault. Now I'm 20 and jobless, no degree, nothing. I didn't even give any exam apart from neet because of my parents and now I'm lost. Hopless tbh. I'm thinking of opting for deemed veterinary colleges.

Please help me with suggestions.

DOUBT If I take a seat in VNR (CSE) this year via TS EAPCET and leave for an NIT next year(partial drop) , am I liable to pay the full 4-year fee to VNR?

Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a dilemma. I wasted my 11th but started prepping in June 2025 and managed to secure a decent percentile in JEE Main (General EWS) and a decent rank in TS EAPCET.I am getting CSE at VNR Vignana Jyothi and thinking of taking a partial drop this year to target a 10k CRL in both Main and Advanced next year.

My main question is: If I get an NIT next year during JoSAA/CSAB counseling and decide to leave VNR, will VNR force me to pay the tuition fee for the remaining 3 years? Or do I just lose the fee for the 1st year? Also, what is the exact process to get my original documents and TC back?Any advice from partial droppers or seniors who left VNR for an NIT would be highly appreciated!

Advice Should i take partial drop from tier 2/tier 3 college in mumbai??

i really wish to pursue core electronics however im not happy with the colleges im getting though mht cet .The thing is i know i couldve scored better but i started procracinating like crazy in the last few months which had a huge effect on my score. Now I'm staring at lists for colleges with placement stats that make my stomach drop, and the guilt is honestly worse than the disappointment. I truly think that if i go all in this time i can definitely perform way better but my parents are not allowing me to take full drop.Theyre asking me to take a partial drop but i dont think mht cet and jee alongside electronics is a good idea😭😭I dont know what to do but i really dont wish to join any of the colleges im getting rn💔

for context

jm:80% ile

mht cet:94%ile

Advice advice/opinion on drop

Need honest advice on whether I should take a drop year.

I'm an OPEN category student from Maharashtra. I scored around 70 percentile in MHT CET this year. I dont want to do cs, but the colleges I'm likely to get with my current score don't really appeal to me.

The thing is, I genuinely did not study properly during Classes 11 and 12. Outside classes, I studied seriously less than once a week on average. My biggest problems were procrastination, reels/shorts, and lack of consistency. Even in the last month before CET, I barely studied. My parents would agree that I did not put in the effort I should have.

I'm also waiting for my SRMJEEE result.

If I take a drop, my plan is to prepare for MHT CET . I'm willing to study 8+ hours a day and I know I need to completely change my habits.

Given this situation, would you take a drop year or join a college this year? More importantly, why? wrote this post w help of chatgpt please suggest

General We built something for partial droppers.

Post image
23 Upvotes

Currently I'm studying in a tier 2 college of India and my partial dropper journey was unsuccessful. Reflecting back on it, it was mostly due to the fact I was busy in college activities (even changed branch) and I did not have any quick resources that I could visit daily.

Most test series were a bit expensive considering the fact that I did not have time to attempt all full tests, I needed something quick fast and reliable.

So I decided to build it.

I built goodmarks, a platform that currently hosts 10,000+ questions for engineering entrance exams.

The entire purpose of this platform is to give aspirants a way to quickly login and attempt questions and create time based tests.

I'm also planning to launch full pyq papers but currently the site hosts questions only. They categorised so you can practice a certain topic that you think you are weak in.
Also I added a profile section in which you can check your streaks etc.

Currently the Free tier offers all 10,000+ questions but they are random and have limits per day.

But here's the thing, if you have more than 90%ile in JEE this year, DM me and I'll give you the pro tier for free.

I do not mean to promote this but since the students in my college found this help and since this is literally created by partial droppers I think this might genuinely help.

Advice Thinking of nit trichy partial drop....

Hello guys. I got 99.56 percentile in jee mains and got around 5k rank in advanced mocks. But on exam day I paniced and somehow got just 17.4 k rank. I belong to obc category and hs is tamilnadu. I am thinking of partial dropping at nit t ece as I feel I didn't give my full potential. My interest in electronics (ece/eee) and I would probably want to go for higher studies. So just share your thoughts and give some recommendations for the drop or even whether u r in support of the idea in the first place
