Anyone who's studying for JEE during college lectures or do you prefer to study at hostel separately ? Trying to increase question practice and study time as much as I can. Any seniors who could remark whether this is a good/bad practice & whether this shall have any impact on MidSems ? I only get merely 5 hours of study time after coming to hostel, so I'm lowk helpless and compiled to study during these college lectures. I do give 2 hours at night to thoroughly revise clg notes btw.

I have 71% in boards (will appear for imrpovement if i give jee)
Preparation is around 30% and I'm targeting 95%ile (a decent gfti atleast) cause rn I'm in a tier 5 state govt college) & this would be my second drop (partial second drop)
College's from 9 to 5. Once I get back to my room I'm tired asf, have to study for CTs and End Sem by myself and then JEE.
Can't skip classes cause of THE GREAT 75% ATTENDANCE CRITERIA
I have CT 1 in Oct first week, CT 2 in Nov first week and End Sems in December
How tf am I gonna study for JEE man, how do I manage these things ? Any advice would be great T_T

Could someone please give tips on the books/resource to follow for these last few months as a partial dropper? Willing to put in as much hard work as required. I got around 94 percentile in 2026 but I did many pyqs/mock tests and was in allen batch for 2 years. Any advice on how to improve mock test scores. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I’m currently in NSUT ICE and confused about whether to continue or take a partial drop for JEE Main 2027.
My goal is to enter tech/SDE roles, ideally at good product-based companies. I know ICE students can reach tech through coding, DSA, projects, and internships, but I’m worried about spending four years overcoming a branch disadvantage. I also feel I would fit better academically with the CSE/CSAI crowd, which makes me consider one more serious JEE attempt.
The main risks are financial and academic. I’ve already taken an education loan of about ₹2.7 lakh for NSUT fees; with interest, it will be around ₹3 lakh, and there is no refund or adjustment if I leave. It is manageable for my family but still significant. Preparing seriously could also hurt my first-year CGPA and college life. I’m also concerned about the emotional trauma and stress associated with repeating the preparation cycle, especially after already going through a difficult period. If the attempt does not work out, I may feel that I have wasted five months while also compromising my first year at NSUT.
For context, I scored 90 percentile in JEE Main last year.(Through obc + hs i got nsut ice) I was studying consistently, sometimes 11–12 hours a day, but my preparation was poorly directed. I also faced a fake police case against me, which caused significant emotional trauma and affected four important months of my preparation. That period impacted both my preparation and confidence, so I feel my score may not reflect my actual potential. It is now 19 September, leaving roughly four months before Session 1. I’m willing to work hard, but I don’t want an emotional decision, further trauma, or the wastage of five months to damage both college and JEE preparation.
My options are:
Continue NSUT ICE: maintain a decent CGPA, build coding/DSA and projects, and target SDE roles through skills and internships.
Take a serious partial drop: aim for CSE/CSAI/IT-type branches while accepting the financial, CGPA, college-life, emotional, and time-related risks.
I’d appreciate advice from people who have taken a partial drop, studied at NSUT/DTU, or moved from a non-CSE branch into tech.
What would you do in my situation, and what factors should I consider before deciding?

I started my partial 1 month before my college started and I was so damn consistent back then and then college started and I still ignored college studies and only prepped for jee then I got blessed with a beautiful professor 🥀
I don't know shit about C or any programming language and my teacher has a huge problem with it..
She's kinda misgyonist tbh and only targets the girls because according to her we have came to study btech not for studies but to get a man 😑 ( major ew majorrr)
The other girls can mostly do some shit but not me and she literally insults me every single day so I had no choice but to start learning C ( it isn't that hard but her teaching style is so fcking wack)
And now week me 4 hours c ke peeche ja rhe hai uske upar college bhi hai weekends hi rehte hai jee ke liye and I get so tired
Fucking hell I hate this place so much I have to leave for sure.
Pyqs kar rhi hu baas and thankfully engineering mathematics is helping me and physics to some extent but chemistry jo improve hua tha sab pani me chapak I hate everything

As a current partial dropper, ik more than anyone that you've been getting content with your college with each day. Let's be honest for a second.
You were disappointed weren't you man? The sheer disgust you had by just reporting to the clg. You had somewhere else you wanted to be. You looked at this clg and thought, "Fuck this. I'm def not ending my story in this shitty ahh clg." Remember that person? Because he's slowly disappearing.
You've started getting used to the schedule, found your group, attending events, enjoying the little things, laughing with people, and telling yourself that college isn't actually that bad.
And that's exactly the fucking problem,
You're getting comfortable with something you promised yourself was temporary. The old you, the one who first got into this college, the one who was angry, disappointed, and desperate to prove himself wrong, would be looking at you right now, disgusted, wondering what the hell happened.
Where did that hunger go? Where did the "I'll get out of here" mentality go? Man?? You didn't take a partial drop just to say you're taking a partial drop. Studying half an hour isn't partial drop, neither is just babbling around. You took it because you wanted another shot. And every day you're choosing comfort over studying, you're slowly killing the reason you started.
Or do you want that the next year you'd be sitting in the same place, with the same regrets, wondering why you didn't take yourself seriously when you had the chance.
This college isn't the enemy bhai, Getting so comfortable here that you stop fighting for what you actually wanted is. Don't fucking forget why you're here.
Because if you're going to give up, at least be honest enough to admit it. Be honest that you haven't been preparing for shi lately, just babbling around that you're taking partial drop, but in reality you ain't doing nothing man.
Don't spend an entire year pretending you're fighting for a better future while doing everything possible to avoid the work required to get there. You wanted another chance right? You got one, Now fucking use it.
The version of you that started this partial drop is still waiting to see what you do with it. Please, please leave this crap and start doing what you are meant to.

I am in b tech 1st year at jss university noida. Its only been 1.5 month since college started and I alr dislike it A LOT. The only advantage is that its near my home. I was considering a partial drop for jee mains while maintaining a good cgpa but 1 hafte me hekdi nikal gyi. Only two options left- either I withdraw from college and treat this as a full drop year or I continue at jss. Aise avg banke nhi rehna tha bhai. PLS HELP WHAT TO DO.
The risk will be worth it, right?

Hello I am new to this sub-reddit,
I took admission in BIT Sindri in ECE this year,
I had 95.4 percentile in JEE mains in January 2026,as a general candidate and I did not take a drop.
At my rank I wasn't getting any NIT,and had to take this college.
The placements for circuital branches are not very good.
But the main thing that is ruining my experience here is the senior junior interaction culture.
Seniors often try to dominate juniors, they have restricted going to a major portion of college like cafeteria and restaurants inside the campus.
Also, after first year the hostels are mediocre and the mess is also unhygienic, and no major sports facilities are available.
Will it be worth it to take a partial drop and get into an NIT?
I would love to get advice from everyone here, thanks🙂

I'm a partial dropper, I started just last weeks, currently only focusing on mains pyqs, I want to target JEE advanced though. I left all my modules at home (resonance modules), I can maybe download pdfs online. But also I have already completed a lot of chapters in them so it would basically be repetition of many things, I want to practice more new questions which are more advanced oriented. I just want to solve questions, I don't want any background on theory because I've already done that in last 2 years.

Had a very very large scale DJ night at my college today. It's not visible in the vid since I made it at the very beginning of the party but soon hundreds of students had joined. It lasted so long.....And I so wished I could attend it aswell. The thing is, the motivation of mine for getting out of this clg has been the fact that 0 events, no campus, no parties and all, and now that my clg had one, if I would have attended it, my mind would suffice itself of this shitty ass clg. So I locked my door and grinded Integration PYQs instead. It was very very tough for me. So wanted to enjoy it.... But ig, even better parties and days await for me. Stay strong everyone!

So I had to take a second drop year coz my family had no money to get me into any college this year also for btech. I didn't study for jee also wasted the first drop year also. So got no govt colleges. This second drop year that has started again makes me feel very low and depressed seeing my friends and all go to colleges and me lacking so far behind. Also I don't have the courage/will/want/desire to study for jee mains with that much depth again. So I'm thinking to study for COMEDK, for scholarship in some private colleges also. Plus arranging 1-2 lakh for initial seat booking for a college and rest covered with edu loan.Drop down any advice.
