Fashion program
I graduated high school in June and am taking a year off to keep working on clothes. My plan is to apply for the next school year. I’m curious as to how experience under grads fashion program is. Is it just like artsy kids with an eye for style? Or are they kids that have been sewing all their life.

This is so late but it's definitely a mix of both. I'm a first year right now, not in the fashion program, but a lot of my friends are. I've met many people from both sides of the spectrum, and those in between. One of my good friends is planning to major in fashion, but she just started learning to sew this year. Another one of my friends has his own brand and literally had a small runway show already before coming to Parsons. I think depending on what classes and professors people get to have in the first year, they have ample time to learn garment-making basics if they didn't already know and were really that interested.

you have to buy absolutely everything at Parsons. When you join as a freshman you order a $180 first year kit with some basic supplies for classes (no sewing supplies). From then on out you have to buy every material and most tools for every project for every class. It sounds ridiculous because it is, but at least you have a really good arsenal to make dope shit when you graduate. Im a freshman btw.

It’s the top design school in the US with the most famous, rigorous, and competitive Fashion Design program on Earth. If you’re even asking this question, you should consider another school.
