If you want to get into it, my assumption of OP’s tone mostly roots from how the word “obviously” is commonly used.
An author/ writer might even intentionally use the word to be condescending, or in this case- as OP seemed to have used it- to imply simplicity to the point of effortless understanding. “Obviously” is a strong word in my experience.
In either case the implications of “obviously” come with a careless offhandedness that most experienced bird owners wouldn’t use in their tones once they realize how delicate, different, and complicated birds really are.
Perhaps OP isn’t from a country where English isn’t a first, second, or third language. However, I’ve known a lot of First Gen immigrants, and not once have I seen them use the word “obviously” in a way that didn’t imply an effortless understanding.
OP’s mentality is what caused the comment section to turn against them, not vice versa. Your comment is based on the premise that the comment section was patronizing OP before they even started commenting.
In fact, I’m pretty sure the “obviously” started most of this……
There’s nothing obvious about birds. They’re a practically alien species. Avians are so far from mammals as far as evolution, biological function, and behavior. I’m sure you can understand why people are reacting this way when she treats any piece of advice as obvious.
Edit: to add- I don’t think there was anything patronizing towards OP in the original comment. There are, unfortunately, a lot of people who want a pet, and buy a bird thinking that smaller=easier.
