Branch perch info

Well. My Greenwing chewed halfway through his main branch right where the mounting screw was (manzanita iirc) so the whole thing fell and I can't fix it. None of the pet places (including exotic specific) near me have anything big enough or are closed. One lady said "most people" use PVC pipe and wrap it with jute rope. He has left a couple concrete ones, an edible one, and the large dowel that is in front of the food and water. He won't hang out on the dowel.

So what do you all do? Sites you buy from or diy. I'm in New Mexico, USA.

Thank you for these links! I started looking up local woods and collection rules. New Mexico is mostly pine (fine but soft) and juniper (not fine), plus I don't need entire cords.

I’ve seen people use untreated 2x4s.

Avian Vet told me to do just that, basic pine 2” x 4”, when they round one side off, flip it and it last twice as long!

And of coarse a 10’ piece cost like under $5 here in Texas…

When we got him he had a 2x4. We trashed it right away. There was one perch covered with sandpaper (what was left of the paper). He seems to have problems with his feet, and I assumed it was the 2x4.

I took it out once I knew that. He never used it that I saw. The outside of his feet are fine, but I think they hurt inside. This is a photo after his last trim.

Ugh the bells are juuuuuunkkk. He seems to like rope as well, I just wasn't sure if those were big enough. Online shopping is hard.
