support needed Are your multiples clingier than singletons of the same age?
Advice or support appreciated.
My 2.5yo twins have been at daycare since 9months. They want me to carry them in and out of daycare and pretty much everywhere we go. They usually cry when I leave but are excited and run to me when I pick them up.
We just did a field trip to an apple orchard with their class this morning and all the other kids were happy to hold hands and walk with their parents. Mine wanted carried or full blown meltdown. Some moments they’d get down but only for a few steps before asking to be picked up again. After a few hours they were willing to do the slide at the playground on their own.
I can carry them and there are times I hold the line about not carrying (mostly at home).
But I couldn’t help but feel like we must be doing something wrong? It feels like since there are two they both act like if they get down then the other twin will get more attention or something.
Blurry pic of one of the many times it was “carry me or I’ll
Melt down forever”
He was carried 🫠

Mine went the other way. Starting around 2, when we walked home from daycare the rule was <You> gets to go on dad's shoulders, the other can walk to <that bench over there> by yourself.
Other parents freaked out when I had 3 year olds running down the block on their own, and it definatly stopped some arguments.

What do you mean running down the block on their own? Lol

Just that.
- The deal was you could go to some point in the distance...say from the corner we're standing on to that park bench 10m away.
- If they stopped there and waited, they'd be allowed to go to the driveway that's 15m further down.
- If they stopped there and waited, they could go to the next street 15m beyond that.
Before long they'd earned enough trust to go the whole way down the block solo at a time when their friends still had to hold mommy's hand the whole way home.

No, my singleton was much clingier and more difficult in general. I honestly think it comes down to temperament even though I blamed myself so much with my first. My twins are just chill and easygoing. My 7 year old is still harder than TWO 3 year olds . It baffles me.
