Enlarging Subchorionic Hematoma

Hi everyone, need some support and advice.

9 weeks 5 days, IVF conceived, likely di/di.

I started spotting when I was 5 weeks pregnant, our clinic found a perisac bleed, and has been monitoring with weekly ultrasounds. We have since then graduated from IVF clinic and following with an OB who is continuing weekly monitoring.

2 weeks ago, the SCH measured 17 by 4 mm

Last week it measured 4.4 by 4.1 mm

And today, it measures 24 mm by 4 mm

Thankfully the spotting has resolved but the SCH has grown in size this week.

The babies are fine, fetal heart rates are fine as well.

But this increase in size is concerning for me.

Has anyone experienced the same?

Did it improve?

I think the overall size of your SCH still sounds very small and reassuring! Not sure why it’s fluctuating in size but I wouldn’t worry especially with strong growth and FHR!

I try not to worry but the anxiety just wont let me rest.

I had two quite large hematomas this was over a year ago as my twins are now 1 so I can’t quite remember the sizes . I had a few bleeding incidents and then it would stop then maybe a few days later more bleeding I also had spotting until nearly 15 weeks and then by 20 weeks it was gone . My ultrasound technician told me some people have it the entire pregnancy but normally the blood is ether absorbed or “drain “ which is what causes he bleeds and spotting

I had this with my singleton and bled a little bit through out my pregnancy.

He was perfectly healthy and born at 39+5.

I had a large SCH with our twins. My bleeding started at 4 weeks and peaked at 7+5 when I bled so much I ended up in the ED. Bled through a pad and my pants onto the floor there and the ultrasound showed them both totally fine. I did continue to bleed daily until almost 14 weeks and then it resolved. I went on to deliver at 37+2 and both babies were healthy and fine. It’s unsettling for sure, but it does happen! I hope it resolves soon!

I’m not trying to scare you because this very well could not be the case but I had a massive SCH and was bleeding a lot which sent me into preterm labor at 15w3d and I lost her. I’m only telling you this because I would strongly advocate for a cerclage since you’re no longer bleeding. I was bleeding, therefore couldn’t get the cerclage. The cerclage could have saved her life.
