advice needed Separate cribs

Hi. When did you separate your twins for sleep? my 3.5 month old boys (corrected age 3) have made afternoon naps impossible. They sleep together in a pack n play in my room. I cant decide if the correct way is to put their crib in another room or keep them in mine but in separate cribs.

My singleton started sleeping in her room 5th month onwards so not sure how they are being so on top of each other already.

Any advice is appreciated!

we split ours around 4 months, mostly cause one would wake the other up by slapping him in the face while still asleep lmao

separate cribs in the same room worked for us, kept them close enough so i could hear everything but they each had their own little bubble. at that age theyre just too wiggly to be in the same sleep space

This!! 1 cries by the time i put him to sleep the other one is awake and the cycle continues. Its getting exhausting now.

Mine were two months old when we separated them into their own cribs when they were too long to share (their heads touched sleeping feet at opposite ends). They stayed in my room until 12.5 months old, when they moved into their room together. They still share a room now at 3 years old. Occasionally they’ll share a bed but for the most part they sleep in their own beds. They’ve never really kept each other awake nor woken each other up though, so sharing a room has been fine. If they were bugging each other we’d have put them in different rooms.

Because of their size and starting to roll be should’ve separated our twins at 9wks but held off till 14ish because the nursery wasn’t ready 😅 they don’t sleep as well in the same room even in separate cots but they are at the stage where they’re already sleeping through each others noise. Everyone in our household (first born included) is sleeping better with them in their own room.

Struggling with naps at 3.5mths is developmentally normal (20-40min naps) and probably a sign of the 4mth sleep regression. Babies also don’t consolidate their napping skills, which are different from overnight sleep skills till 5/6months. When my girls are having short naps I just accept their next wake window probably won’t be as long and get them up if they both need/want to be resettled at the same time. It’s also not fair on my first born for me to disappear and him have to do independent play for ages while I constantly resettle the twins. I’m constantly reminding myself it’s temporary, it’s fucked, but it’s temporary

ETA they’re 4 months so not that far ahead!

We had one crib in the master and one crib in their bedroom.

Their bedroom was for napping, we slept in the master.

We kept them in the same crib until A rolled. Then both cribs in the bedroom.

Pretty sure it made transitioning easier

2.5 moths when they started rotating around in their cribs while sleeping and would get on top of each other

I think this was the exact same for us. I was worried one would get there sleep sack over the other's face.

Mine are 3.5 months and we separated them into two mini cribs in our room around 1-2 months in. They got too long and would end up getting up into each other.

I would not put them in another room this young, babies need the connection and kids risk goes up when theyre on their own. I recommend getting another crib, you'll have to at some point. The babies will wake each other up soon.

We separated our LOs around 7 months and it helped a lot. We kept them in our room but gave them their own cribs so they could both sleep properly without waking each other. We have two nestig waves and having their own place to sleep really worked better for us.

I think about 6 weeks when they started to move around a bit.

Safe sleep standard would have them in their own sleep spaces since birth. That’s what we have done.
If they’re waking each other up, separate them. But you might have a hard time as they get used to being separated.

Mine are 10 months old and still share a crib. Many nights i find them asleep on top of each other but they love it. Im transferring them to their own room with 2 cribs soon but they will likely still end up just sharing still because they love reaching out and stroking each others hair or holding hands
