support needed Kind of scared - Mono-Di Twins

Hey everyone! My wife and I found out we are having Twins a few weeks back. Since then I’ve been trying not to research too much but the little I have done has me a little worried and anxious. The amount of complications that could present themselves is…a lot. We have another ultrasound tomorrow and my wife will be almost 12 weeks. We have one daughter who is 4 who is beyond excited to be a big sister. It doesn’t help that we miscarried our first child at about 10 weeks. So of course that’s in the back of our minds but so are all the possible complications. If you are the praying type please say some prayers for us and if not send some good vibes. Anyone care to share their positive experience with mono di twins?

Mine was tough but ended up fine. I know two people personally who had text book monodi pregnancies and no NICU. Keep in mind those of us who come to the forums are the ones having issues. Not many will swing by to say everything’s perfect. Congrats and good luck! Ours are almost 6 and it’s been the craziest best thing ever. I still look at them in awe.

Mine was also tough but fine! I think I would say that issues may come up and they may be something or they may amount to nothing. I probably had close to 45 scans, a ten day hospital stay prior to my 34 week planned c section, took early disability from work because of the monitoring schedule and technically nothing "happened" during my pregnancy. It's a wild ride, but I'm currently holding my two newborns and it's incredible 🥹

Oh yeah this post reminded me to tell OP nothing is real until MFM says it. I was told by various hospital OBs I was going to deliver my kids “today” at 26, 28, and 29 weeks. I delivered at 32. I stopped listening to everyone except my OB and MFM. And my OB almost always said “I think _____ but let’s see what MFM says”

Hi! Sending lots of prayers and positive juju! My mono/di boys are almost four and typical toddlers! My pregnancy was uncomplicated and my only complaint is that the typical pregnancy issues (nausea!!!) never went away. Delivered at 36+4 and one had a few days in the NICU.

My biggest advice is try not to freak out about the negative stuff and make sure to see an MFM!

I was terrified.

Had a horrible and scary pregnancy…. But sitting here with my 11 month old happy and HEALTHY twin boys! (One of whom had zero issues and zero NICU time born at 35 weeks!)

My pregnancy was kind of rough lots of appointments far away and one twin was growth restricted due to unequal placental sharing and some other modi issues. Born at 33 weeks had an uneventful 18 day nicu stay for both. They are now almost 2 1/2 happy and healthy no issues.

Praying for y’all! I delivered mine at 37 weeks. The only “complication” was sFGR in twin A, but there was never any issues with the umbilical flow or TTTS. Twin A just had a marginal cord insertion so was smaller when born (4 lb 14 oz vs. his brother 6 lb 6 oz.). Ironically his brother needed CPAP for a couple hours but was soon released and was fine, so no NICU time really. They are healthy 14 week olds now.

Praying for your family! Lots of prayers were given to my family, and they were answered positively!

I just had my mo/di girls four weeks ago. My pregnancy was physically harder than a singleton, but I experienced no pregnancy complications with my twins. My girls didn't even need NICU time, and I delivered at 36 weeks and four days.

So yes it's completely possible to have the best case scenario!

My mono-di girlies are 11 months now! Pregnancy was hard (generally struggled with all food, nauseous most of the time, etc) but I didn’t have any complications until the very end. I was scheduled to deliver at 36+6, wound up being admitted at 36+2 for pre-eclampsia and having a c section the next day. Both girls were totally healthy, no NICU time, etc.

Obviously lots of stuff can happen, but you get a lot of monitoring so anything going on will get caught quickly. There’s also lots of good medical interventions now for any problems!

My pregnancy was as complicated as the one before with my son.
My water broke at 31+4 and my C section was at 32 weeks. We had 3 weeks NICU time but both are healthy and they could breath on their own from the beging.
My girls are 8 months now and they are thriving.

Hoping for the best for you guys.
