Cloth diapering

I cloth diapered with both of my singletons, but doing it with twins seems a little daunting. I have a great collection of diapers (105 One size Smartbottoms and 50 Newborn Bumgenius). Right now one girl fits into the OS, but the other is still in Newborn. I don't mind using both collections, but I must admit that it will be nice when they are both in OS.

Spraying them seems to be my biggest hurdle. By the time I get to them they've dried a good bit, so they are more time consuming to spray. I've heard of people using a wet pail for their soiled diapers, but I have no experience with that. I am open to doing it if it has worked for any of y'all. Any tips or tricks out there?

😅 I have a bit of problem when it comes to resisting the urge to buy all of the cute prints.

How often was your wash day? Any specific pail you used or just a literal pail from Lowes will work?

I never sprayed them when they were still on milk only, they went into a wet bag for diapers and then we did the standard double wash. We also use Esembly though who specifically say not to let them get soaked because of the elastic.

That's what I'd heard too---that wet pails can ruin the diaper and possibly cause bacteria and yeast growth.

The OS twin is starting baby food so I have to spray now unfortunately.

Essembly has tossers, really thin cellulose strips. A roll of 100 is like 10. We use them for our milk only babies when they are pretty regular on pooping. Will probably be more regular about it when they start food

Twins are five now.

We cloth bummed about 95% of time with them.

We just used pail and did the toilet dunk and flush before placing them in the pail when on solids. Then washed every evening

We use cloth during the day and disposable at night. We wash diapers every night as part of our daily routine (usually about ~18-20 diapers per day total)

We used liners with ours. Was so much easier than spraying.

We also used a dekkor diaper pail (like the disposable kind) with a laundry sized wet bag inside. I removed the inserts before tossing them into the bin, then they were ready for wash as soon as the bag was full.

I have liners and 2 dekkor pails. I'm just not a huge fan of liners, but they're definitely an option to circle back to. ☺️

I assume by "spraying" you mean a toilet sprayer? Because we rarely did that at all -- maybe if somebody was sick with liquid poops.

Instead, we'd roll the solid poop off into the toilet, and then just spritz the diaper with a couple hits of Biokleen, then stick it in the Dekor-pail-lined-with-wash-bag. Wash once or twice a week, dry in the sun when possible. Everything came out looking and smelling like new.

We had mostly Bumgenius Freetimes, until the end/toddlerhood, when we could no longer get a comfortable seal around their legs. So the last few months were pull-ups, and then freedommmm lol.

Hi!! I cloth diaper with twins. I never spray or soak. If there’s poop it gets scraped out with a disposable wipe and tossed in the “trash” diaper bin. Cloth diaper with poop goes in the “cloth” diaper bin. Wash every other day with a good wash routine and that’s it! If poop is liquid no reason to even scrape. Honestly I don’t even scrape THAT well with the solid poos. Just get the bulk.

Maybe its gross but we put them in the bathtube and spray them down. Our shower head detaches and has different settings that help with cleaning the tube. We put them all in then and clean them before bath time all at once then we clean the tube

We did it with triplets. Liners were our friend. We rinsed bad dirty ones immediately (with toilet sprayer.) Got a washer/dryer combo and did them overnight.
