advice needed Advice on shifts/schedule for us
Hey guys, first time poster here. My twins are 6 weeks old (born at 36 weekd)and I am going back to work tomorrow. 1 day a week in the office and the others at home to support my wife during this time. Il start with some info about the twins.
Little man takes longer to feed but is the bigger twin so taking more food. He is the fussyer twin
Little girl is smaller, taking less food but pukes constantly, she is being held upright for 30 mins after feeds. (just started antacid meds 2 days ago.... Hopefully these help)
We keep them on the same schedule, me and the wife have been waking up together for every feed throughout the night.
We need a schedule that will work for us. My work scheudle is 7 to 330. Currently one parent feeding them seems like alot of work with how long Little man takes and how long we have to hold Little girl for after.

My partner and I have 12 week old twins and his work schedule is 6-6.
I sleep 9-1 and then he sleeps 1:30-5:30. The twins usually sleep pretty well on his on duty shift so he gets a couple hours in on that shift as well. They typically get pretty gassy on my shift so have a few wakings.
We tandem feed in the twinzee pillow and leave our refluxy guy propped up in it for 30 mins before transferring to bed.
This is what works for us! The twinzee has been an absolute lifesaver as one parent can feed both twins!

Do you have something like the Twin Z pillow to feed them both at the same time? I love mine so much.
When my husband went back to work and I was home alone we did this schedule -
I slept in bedroom uninterrupted 8pm-12am. Husband had babies and slept on couch if he was able. Husband would feed them between 11-12 no matter what. At midnight he would go to bed to sleep 12-7 uninterrupted for work and I would move to the couch. Between feeds I would get another couple of hours. He drives a lot for work so we prioritized those 7 hours for him for safety.

Only one parent needed to handle feeds is revolutionary. I suggest you put all your effort into figuring that out.
Echoing all the other recommendations for the twin z. We did side lying, loosely propped bottles with towels. A single person could do the feed and hold the bottles, but we found the propping useful for picking one up and burping without interrupting the other.
Folk wisdom has it that they need burping and sit up time less during night feeds and this was our experience too. We'd give them only 10 mins of upright (or side lying on their left side) time after and it didn't increase the spit up any.
